Instagram May Bring Back Their Chronological Feed

Instagram’s controversial decision to move from a chronological feed to the current algorithm-feed has been a hot topic since it was enacted in 2016. Recently, some reports have suggested the app may soon switch back to the chronological feed.

User @jackharding posted to his Instagram Story noting that his feed was in chronological order, stating, “Instagram back to chronological order. I wonder if this is good or bad news.” Harding later noted that he was an Instagram employee beta testing the chronological feed, with several other users making similar claims.

Naturally, Instagram has not released a statement confirming or denying the reinstitution of the chronological feeds, and beta tests are not a guarantee of features to come.

This news comes after the company disabled their GIPHY partnership following the discovery of a racist GIF.

Disney’s Multi-Billion Dollars Investment is Great News for Aspiring Actors

Leading analysts predict that Disney’s current stock price and plans could mean the company will dominate the video streaming market for the foreseeable future.

RBC Capital Markets’ Steven Cahall said in a recent statement that Disney has the means to become “arguably the world’s leading content company.”

For example, Disney is currently waiting for regulatory approval on its deal with 21st Century Fox, which owns Hulu and could end with Disney spending $30 billion a year on video-streaming content, which is great news for aspiring actors. As Disney competes with Netflix, which is already spending $8 billion a year on content, there will be more shows, movies, and therefore, more acting jobs.

Analysts predict the move could put Disney ahead of Netflix, who has been spending $8 billion on new content in 2018. Business Insider reports that this statement also noted that Disney’s theme parks and cruises provide a new and unique opportunity for customers, estimating around 50-million unique households could be brought into the company from Disney-themed vacations alone.

While all these plans are currently in the works and depend on the 21st Century Fox deal at the moment, there’s more than enough to say Netflix and Disney’s competition is beneficial to the entertainment industry.

How a Stunt Performer Prepares to Be Set on Fire (VIDEO)

Professional stunt acting plays an important part in the special effects in some of Hollywood’s biggest movies.

It requires confidence, mental and physical strength of really courageous individuals. For the latest installment of Nowness’s “Endurance Test” series, director George Harvey highlights stunt actor Sian Milne, whose stunt work involves setting herself bonfire while wearing a protective suit within a controlled environment.

The short documentary gives a look at the level of discipline, mental strength and technical support required to pull off such dangerous stunts. In addition, the mindset the stunt actors take on. “What interested me about Sian and the team’s work is their ability to control their bodies under ferocious conditions,” filmmaker Harvey says. “Like meditation, it is surprisingly calm and controlled. These are actors who normally disappear into the background behind lead characters. Here, Sian steps into the light.”

Snapchat and Instagram Disable Giphy for After Suggesting a Racist GIF

Snapchat and Instagram have recently removed its Giphy feature from their platforms.

The move was a result of a racist GIF appearing in its search results after a user typed the word “crime.” The picture in question uses the N-word and includes a picture of a monkey.

Snapchat told TechCrunch that, “As soon as we were made aware, we removed the GIF and have disabled Giphy until we can be sure that this won’t happen again.” Meanwhile, Instagram told Tech Crunch that, “This type of content has no place on Instagram. We have stopped our integration with Giphy as they investigate the issue.” 

Giphy responded by issuing the following statement:

A user discovered an offensive GIF sticker in our library, and we immediately removed it per our content guidelines. After investigation of the incident, this sticker was available due to a bug in our content moderation filters specifically affecting GIF stickers. We have fixed the bug and have re-moderated all of the GIF stickers in our library.

The GIPHY staff is also further reviewing every GIF sticker by hand and should be finished shortly.

We take full responsibility for these recent events and sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended.

Both Snapchat and Instagram have recently integrated the Giphy functionality into their applications for users looking to add more creativity to their stories and social media posts.
