Armistead Maupin is the author of eleven novels, including the nine-volume Tales of the City, which led to three Tales of the City limited series starring Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis. Alan Poul served as producer of the first three adaptations (Tales of the City, More Tales of the City, Further Tales of the City) which earned a Peabody Award and multiple Emmy Award nominations.

Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City is a 10-part Netflix original limited series, expected to start production later this year and debut in 2019. Academy Award nominee and Emmy-, SAG- and Golden Globe-Award winning actress Laura Linney and Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Olympia Dukakis will reprise their roles as Mary Ann Singleton and Anna Madrigal. Barbara Garrick also to return. Additional cast to be announced.

He isn’t getting answers from his parents or Jorie, and the principal and teachers often give him conflicting stories. As he discovers the difficulties his sister endured, he learns a little more about himself and is able to see things in a much clearer light.

And then in the process, he finds out that women are people who should be respected!

Now a new movie inspired by the same premise is on the way to theaters with the genders flipped. According to Deadline, the forthcoming What Men Want will star Taraji P. Henson who plays “a female sports agent who has constantly been boxed out by her male colleagues.” She then uses her ability to hear men’s thoughts to her advantage at work.
