According to reports, Apple is now filming in Atlanta, Georgia under the code-name “Puget Sound” for the upcoming Steven Spielberg reboot. Variety reports the new series is a reboot of Amazing Stories. “Apple is set to reboot the cult classic sci-fi series “Amazing Stories” from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, Variety has confirmed.” A reboot of the anthology series was originally scheduled for NBC. Bryan Fuller will serve as an executive producer on the Apple version with Amblin’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey also executive producing. The 10-episode order for the series is part of a new content deal between Amblin, Apple, and Universal TV.

L.A. Housing Crisis: Entertainment Workers Are Now Living in Their Cars

The Los Angeles housing crisis rocks Hollywood as entertainment workers are forced to live in their cars to save money and keep their jobs.

Chris Pratt, Tiffany Haddish, Halle Berry, Drew Carey, and Kelly Clarkson all said they were homeless before becoming famous. The entertainment industry is arguably one of the biggest employers in Los Angeles, California. However, the number of people working in the film industry living in their car has risen.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter investigating the lives of film industry workers living in their cars, there is a “small but visible population” of actors, film crew workers and other workers in the film industry living in their cars.

Safe Parking L.A. is an organization that launched in 2016 and opened their first facility this year providing guarded, secret lots for people living in their car to sleep in. According to the reports, “ an actor and a couple of part-time production or lighting professionals usually show up, founder Scott Sale says.”

Engagement manager Jonathan Hans told The Hollywood Reporter entertainment industry types are a common group that frequent the Safe Parking L.A. facilities. “Especially within our younger population, it’s not necessarily uncommon that a group of young kids came out [to L.A.] because somebody told them that they would get them a record deal and then they ended up living out of their van,” he says. 

There are some upsides but more downsides to “transit living”. The news out interviewed Noelle, an Iowa native who graded from Chapman University in 2016. She says she can afford to rent a room in Los Angeles but, it is still too expensive. Noelle said she found a way to make it in Los Angeles and save money on Instagram – living in a van.

“Noelle has one closet and says she’s constantly throwing things out. Her bathroom is a tiny portable toilet stashed beneath her hanging clothes (it is emptied at RV dump stations); running water is provided by 5-gallon freshwater jugs stored underneath her small sink. She, like many who live in their cars, showers at the gym.”

Since the 1970s, California has been experiencing a housing shortage such that by 2018, California has the 49th lowest ration of housing units per resident. With such a shortage, basic economics come into play with an increase in demand for the short supply of homes. California has created hundreds of thousands of new jobs, which increases demand for housing and the insufficient construction of new homes and apartments has caused rent and home prices to skyrocket.

In 2017, the median price of a home in California was more than 2.5 times higher than the median home price in the United States. The median home price in San Francisco is $1.3M and $600,000 in Los Angeles. In the rental market, California has the lowest vacancy rate ever while the median rent for a two-bedroom apartment is $2,400. The median rent for cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco is over $4,000 per month.

Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions

This news comes after the release of Jordan Peele and Monkeypaw Productions new upcoming feature film Us. On Christmas Day, Peele released the trailer for Us. Us is an upcoming horror film written, produced and directed by Jordan Peele under Monkeypaw Productions. It stars Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Anna Diop.

Peele made history with his 2017 horror film Get Out. The movie stars Daniel Kaluuya as a young black man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his white girlfriend. At the 90th Academy Awards, it was nominated for four awards, including Best Picture, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

He often allowed them to improvise while the cameras were rolling. Moving forward, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be directing the sequel, which is set to hit theaters in early 2020.

A major feature film is now casting in Albuquerque, New Mexico

White Turtle Casting, the casting director behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is now casting background actors for an upcoming feature film filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Producers are looking for a young female actress who can ride a bike to work on a scene filming on Monday, January 21st. Details for the upcoming feature film have not been revealed.

Details for the upcoming feature film have not been released. However, the upcoming Breaking Bad movie is now filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to the Albuquerque Journal, the movie “Greenbrier” will begin production in the Duke City mid-November through early February. “Greenbrier” tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom. According to the N.M. Film Office, the production will employ approximately 300 N.M. crew members, 16 N.M. actors and approximately 450 N.M. background talent.

According to reports, Apple is now filming in Atlanta, Georgia under the code-name “Puget Sound” for the upcoming Steven Spielberg reboot. Variety reports the new series is a reboot of Amazing Stories. “Apple is set to reboot the cult classic sci-fi series “Amazing Stories” from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, Variety has confirmed.” A reboot of the anthology series was originally scheduled for NBC. Bryan Fuller will serve as an executive producer on the Apple version with Amblin’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey also executive producing. The 10-episode order for the series is part of a new content deal between Amblin, Apple, and Universal TV.

Dove MEN+CARE in partnership with Jigsaw Casting is seeking New Canadian Dads across Canada who will be on Paternity Leave between January to March 2019 for a new content series!

Looking for New Canadian Fathers from the following countries, who have been in Canada for 5 years or less, that are planning on taking paternity leave sometime during the 1st year of their child’s life:

1. Philipines
2. China
3. Any Indian Countries
Minimum of 4 weeks or more.

Concept
This is a content series that follows several fathers on their paternity leave journey. A documentarian will follow each father at different times throughout their paternity leave. Dads will also be given GoPro cameras to document their unique process from preparing financially to the experiences of spending time with their new child at home. Our goal is to create content that’s both emotionally and intellectually engaging, connecting the viewer with the real stories of families going through this experience. Our hope is that more men will take advantage of the Governments paternity leave program.

If selected, we will have to agree to the full terms of your participation in the campaign, including providing you with an honorarium of $5,000 (VISA card). Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply. Interviews will be conducted via SKYPE. Your paternity leave period does not have to be consecutive.
