When Was Shrek 5 Confirmed?

On July 9, 2024, DreamWorks confirmed that a fifth Shrek movie is in the works, aptly titled Shrek 5. The announcement was made on the official DreamWorks social media account, stating, “Not too Far, Far Away… @Shrek 5 is coming to theatres on July 1, 2026, with Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz.”

However, the news was initially teased by Eddie Murphy (the voice of Donkey) earlier this year. In June, Murphy told Collider that he had already recorded his part for the new film and mentioned a Donkey spinoff movie.

“We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago. I recorded the first act, and we’ll finish it up this year. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey [movie],” he explained.

Job Responsibilities:
