Following the Dallas shootings, police are now arresting people for criticizing cops on social media.
Four men in Detroit were arrested this week for posts on social media that the police called threatening. In fact, one tweet that led to an arrest said that Micah Johnson, the man who shot and killed police officers in Dallas last week was a hero. None of the men have been named, nor have they been charged but, shows a new era in policing in America.
According to the Intercept, Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters, “I know this is a new issue, but I want these people charged with crime.” Craig added, “I’ve directed my officers to prepare warrants for these four individuals, and we’ll see which venue is the best to pursue charges.”

It’s important to keep in mind that five police officers were killed in the Dallas shootings, the most since September 11th and as a result, law enforcement officials across the nation are more sensitive to comments about police officers. However, the arrest is sparking controversy especially among free speech advocates. “Arresting people for speech is something we should be very careful about,” Bruce Schneier of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, told The Intercept.
The four people have been arrested for saying a wide array of comments such as Micah Johnson was a hero, to allegedly threatening a police officer. These men and women have been charged with crimes ranging from inciting injury to persons or property to public intimidation.

“Certainly, posting that kind of thing on social media is a bad thought,” professor Larry Dubin of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law told the Detroit News. “But having a bad thought isn’t necessarily a crime.”
But, is this legal? As The Intercept pointed out, the Supreme Court set a precedent last year when it ruled that prosecutors pursing a charge of communicating threats need to prove both that reasonable people would view the statement as a threat and that the intent was to threaten. However, Elonis v. United States dealt with a man who had posted violent rap lyrics about his estranged wife and the court reversed his conviction.
What will this mean for the future of police and social media? Well, a simple retweet, comment, or share could land you a couple of months in jail, if you’re not too careful.
Want to become famous? Try working as a background extra in the film industry.
Breaking into the film industry can be extremely tough. Most actors have to start at the bottom and work their way up. In fact, everyone in a TV show, movie or commercial that does not speak is a background extra, and they are typically on the lowest part of the film industry totem pole. However, many of Hollywood’s biggest and richest actors have worked their way up the ranks to become some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities and actors.
A background actor or extra is a performer in a film, television show, stage, musical, opera or ballet production, who appears in a nonspeaking or nonsinging (silent) role, usually in the background. For example, Megan Fox started her acting career in 2001 and was getting by as a background actor taking on roles such as “Partygoer Dancing Under Waterfall” in “Bad Boyz 2”. Her background role would later pay off as she was spotted by the movie’s director, Michael Bay, which led to a role on Transformers.

He had experience working as a dancer and model out side of the industry, but his first acting job took place in the movie War of the Worlds in a church scene. He can also be spotted in the music video for Ricky Martin‘s ‘She Bangs’. He would later land a role in the movie Step Up, which would launch his acting career.
4. Renee Zellwegger – $60 Million

Before Bridget Jones Diary, Renee Zellwegger was a background extra in the 1993 classic movie Dazed and COnfused. She was called “Girl in Blue Pickup Truck”. She would later land a role in the movie My Boyfriend’s Back, but her part was cut in the movie. Over time she worked on commercials, and small roles until she landed her big break.
3. Jackie Chan – $130 Million

Jackie Chan may be known for his high flying stunts and action scenes. However, Chan was an extra in two Bruce Lee movies. The first movie was the 1971 classic Fists of Fury and the second was Enter the Dragon.

The same extra is now one of the most recognized and powerful actors in Hollywood.

Heather Jack is on the fast track to become one of Hollywood’s biggest female directors. Her short film, ‘Let’s Not Panic’ was a hit during the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015. The L.A. County Sherriff’s Department announced that they have opened an investigation in NBC reality series The Biggest Loser over possible illegal drug use on set of the hit weight loss series.
Authorities say the inquiry was sparked by an article posted on the Post last month, which acussed the reality show for allegedly encouraging contestants to take drugs and vomit. However, the police want to make it clear that this is not an investigation. “What we’re doing is an inquiry into what’s happening on The Biggest Loser,” a police spokesperson told the New York Post. “It’s an ‘inquiry,’ not a full-blown investigation.”
Season 2 contestant Suzanne Mendonca said five people on her edition of the show were rushed to the hospital due to alleged abuse from show trainers and medical staff.
Joelle Gwynn, from the 2008 “Couples” version of “Loser,” said she was directed to take ephedra, a drug used to boost weight loss and energy that was banned by the FDA in 2004.
The Biggest Loser’s producers called the allegations “without merit and false.” In a statement to Variety, personal trainer Bob Harper said “The safety and well-being of our contestants is, and has always been, paramount,” Harper said. “Contestants are told at the start of the show that there is zero tolerance for any weight loss drugs. We prohibit the use of any illegal substances, in addition to the many other rules and procedures of the show that are designed to ensure safety.”
However, former contestant Suzanne Mendonca has a different story. “People would take amphetamines, water pills, diuretics, and throw up in the bathroom,” Mendonca told the Post. “They would take their spin bikes into the steam room to work up a sweat. I vomited every single day. [Show trainer] Bob Harper tells people to throw up: ‘Good,’ he says. ‘You’ll lose more calories.’”

Snow on tha Bluff actor, Curtis Snow arrested after a standoff with police following a funeral.
An Atlanta man surrendered to police officers after a standoff at a church last week. According to reports, Curtis Snow, also known as Curtis Snow, barricaded himself inside the ladies room of an Atlanta church. Police were told that Ward could have been armed but, police did not find any weapons on him after they arrested him. From WSBTV:
The church’s pastor said Ward’s grandson got into an argument with someone at the funeral and that’s when police were called. Police don’t know if the grandson is actually armed in the church bathroom, but armed officers are in place around the building.”It didn’t ruin it (the funeral). The young man that’s allegedly barred inside the church, that’s his granddad. Young people grieve differently. I don’t think he was here to hurt anyone,” pastor Dexter Johnson said.Several streets around the church were temporarily closed while police were involved in a standoff.
According to one of the witnesses at the police stand off, the use of a police, SWAT team was “overkill” and “ridiculous.” However, an Atlanta police officer defended the police response by saying Ward has victimized people over the years by supplying drugs to the area.
Snow on tha Bluff is a 2012 reality/drama film directed by Damon Russell. It is the story of Curtis Snow, a real Atlanta “robbery boy and crack dealer whose livelihood revolves around armed robbery and drug pushing” who “sought out [director] Damon Russell to make a film about his life.” The film’s title refers to protagonist Curtis Snow and to Atlanta’s neighborhood The Bluff, which is infamous for crime and drug dealing.

Felt starring Liam Neeson is now casting cops in Atlanta, Georgia.
Liam Neeson’s new movie Felt is now casting actors, models, and talent to play cops for a bar scene. The movie is set in 1972 and casting directors are looking for talent that look like they are from that time period.
About Felt:
The movie will center around the story of Mark Felt, who under the name “Deep Throat” helped journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncover the Watergate scandal in 1974. Felt features Liam Neeson, Diane Lane, Jason Bateman.
The movie will be written and directed by Peter Landesman. Landesman is most known for writing and directing Concussion, writing Kill the Messenger andexecutive producing Trade.

It was widely reported that production for The Maze Runner: The Death Cure was shut down after the film’s movie star, Dylan O’Brien, suffered serious injuries in a set accident two months ago.
Last week, Fox released a statement explaining their decision to stop filming, saying: “The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries. We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.”
Now according to OLV, filming for the new Maze Runner movie has been shut down completely due to O’Brien’s ongoing surgeries and the pregnancy of another cast member.

A new reality show centering around Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian is being “fast tracked” at E!
According to reports, the latest celebrity couple that has the world talking is getting their own reality show. According to TMZ:
One of our sources tell us the couple ain’t gonna come cheap — we’re told the numbers being thrown around are in the 7-figure range.
So far, we’re told nothing is set in stone — but with Chyna being in her 2nd trimester, the network better move fast if they hope to have a production crew catch the grand entrance … if you catch our drift.
It’s interesting to point out that Blac Chyna recently changed her name to Angela Kardashian and will probably launch one of the most-watched TV shows in history since the premiere of I Am Cait.
In other news, Lamar Odom has reportedly been spotted drinking again after promising Khloe Kardashian that he wouldn’t.
As his friend shopped for shoes, Lamar retreated to a bar inside the mall, and went for the Cognac. He shmoozed it up with a few women, dropped $60 cash and beat a hasty retreat.
Lamar Odom almost died after an overdose last year.
Robert Downey Jr. reveals the two types of scenes he hates acting in.
Robert Downey Jr. recently stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he revealed a few details about his acting career. Before Downey discussed the scenes he hates shooting the most, he admitted a very personal secret to Fallon, saying, “My dirty little secret is I’m actually not all that good.”
As for scenes Downey hates acting in, he said the first is any time he has to open a door. “I hate opening doors,” said the actor. “Opening doors, pretending you’re surprised to see somebody that has been standing on the other side of the door.” He had Fallon act out opening a door and seeing a former girlfriend he thought had been killed, only to realize he would have to kill her.
The other type of scene Downey hates is driving a car. He hates being directed to do things while he’s driving, like checking the mirror, or noticing something he just passed.
So, if you were a director and you want to piss of RDJ make him a door-to-door salesman who drives thousands of miles selling vacuums. That will really piss him off.

Tom Hanks says acting was a cure for his childhood loneliness.
The fourth highest-grossing actor in Hollywood revealed he lived in 10 different houses in five different cities by the age of 10 after his parents divorced. In a recent interview with BBC radio, Tom Hanks revealed some personal details about his childhood, life and acting process.
Hanks revealed that his father was a hard worker and was always interested in finding additional work to support the family: “My dad would get a phone call at 10 o’clock at night from a buddy of his who needs desperately a head chef and my dad would say ‘I’ll be there at 8am’ and we would pack up the car and Dad would start the next day.”

However, Hanks revealed that because his father was always working, he spent his free time watching plays alone at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, California. Hanks revealed that as a kid he struggled to communicate “the vocabulary of loneliness.”
It’s interesting to point out that a large percentage of Tom Hanks’ movies center around loneliness. In fact, the movie CastAway where Hanks played a FedEx employee stranded on a desert island for four years after his plane crashes in the Pacific Ocean epitomizes the entire struggle with surviving and being alone. Tom Hanks credits his acting abilities to making that “lightning bolt” discovery saying, “all the great plays are about loneliness”, he added: “I said, ‘That’s why I’m here – that’s why I went to the theatres by myself’.” Hanks described it as “the wow moment of my life, going from kid trying to find out what is interesting in this life to young man trying to be an artist”.
But, it would be his first acting job in The Two Gentlemen Of Verona that taught him how to be professional. “It was drilled into me… that you had to show up on time, you had to know what you were going to say, and even if you did not like the people personally that you were working with, you had to respect their process.”
