10 Things You Probably Did Not Know About the Amazing Spider-Man 2

0

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 came out and it is expected to make a whopping $92 million dollars in the box office for its opening weekend.

But, with every great movie, there are hidden pieces of trivia that you may have not known. Here is our list of facts that you probably did not know about ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Enjoy:

#1 Green Goblin Almost Died in the Final Fight Scene
The final battle between the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and Spiderman (Andrew Garfield was filmed in an actual clock tower where temperatures would reach 115 degrees. DeHaan’s goblin costume weighed 50 lbs and couldn’t be opened without power tools. The film’s medic was so concerned that DeHaan would pass out and get heat stroke, that crew members were told to pour buckets of ice on DeHaan’s head and down his suit. Unfortunately, this didn’t work because his body temperature was so hot that the ice would melt and turn into steam before he could feel the effects of the ice. The next day, a tubing system that would pump cold water was installed in the goblin suit so that the cooler temperatures could reach DeHaan’s body.
#2 Entire movie was filmed in New York City
This is the first “Spider-Man” film to be filmed entirely in New York, and the largest film production ever in New York City.

#3 Mary-Jane Watson was in the movie but later cut out
Shailene Woodley was cast as Mary-Jane Watson, and even filmed scenes. But her role was cut from the film because the filmmakers felt there were too many characters and wanted to streamline the series, and have Gwen Stacy be the only love interest for the rest of the series.
#4 Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield adopted a puppy and it’s in the movie!
The dog that Gwen walks while Peter spies in her from a rooftop, actually belongs toAndrew Garfield and Emma Stone. They adopted him in 2013.
#5 It took 3.5 hours for Dane DeHaan’s make to be done!
It took 3 1/2 hours for Dane DeHaan’s makeup to be complete when he was in his Goblin costumer. The suit, which weighed 50 pounds, took about an hour to put on.

#6 The movie foreshadows the next super villains
Two Spider-Man villains have minor roles in the movie. A female Oscorp employee named Felicia. Her full name Felicia Hardy. In the comics, she is also known as Black Cat. A cat burgle and occasionally a love interest for Spiderman. Also a male employee named Smythe, his full name is Allister Smythe, in the comics, he builds the Spider Slayers, robots built to hunt spider man, eventually he would get powers and become a villain called Spider Slayer.
#5 Did you see Dr. Octopus?
Two display cases in Oscorp feature a set of metal wings, and an exoskeleton holding four arms. These are homages to Spider-Man’s antagonists the Vulture (Adrian Toomes) and Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius).

#6 X-Men: Days of Future Past argument!
The film’s mid-credits scene teases X-Men: Days of Future Past, produced by 20th Century Fox, while The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is produced by Sony/Columbia Pictures. This is because the director Marc Webb has a contract with Fox to make another film for them after the first Amazing Spider-Man movie, but instead of doing so, he signed to do TASM2. This was allowed by Fox, IF Sony would agree to promote their next X-Men movie, for free.
#7 Director, Marc Webb, foreshadowed Gwen Stacy’s future in an interview!
When asked whether or not Gwen Stacy would survive in this film, Marc Webb commented: “There are times where we feel obligated to follow the source material, and there are times where we feel the need to deviate from it, and besides, Emma Stone is a very talented actress, and we like having her around.”

#8 The Rhino is a hybrid from the Ultimate universe and the “mainstream universe”.
The film’s portrayal of the Rhino combines aspects from the comics of the Rhino from the mainstream universe (the Rhino’s real name Aleksei Sytsevich and background) and Ultimate universe (where instead of gaining superpowers or wearing a normal suit, he pilots a Rhino-themed exo suit similar to Iron Man).

#9 Oscar winners played supervillains in a comic book movie for the first time!
Jamie Foxx and Chris Cooper are the first Oscar winners to portray Spider-Man villains.

#10 Costume secrets…
As was done with Captain America in his second on-screen appearance for the movie “The Avengers”, Spiderman’s costume for this film is tailored to resemble his original costume from the comic books, when the character was first introduced. The costume for this film includes the original color patterns for Spidey’s hands and feet and the Large White eyepieces (which have not been done in any major motion picture about Spiderman. Each time, the costume eyes were thin, clear colored frames.) The only differences from the costume for this film and the very first Spider-man costume, are the Spider insignia on his back and the lack of Web “wings” beneath his arms.

‘Walking Dead’ Season 5 Adds a New Cast Member – The Wire’s Seth Gilliam

0

With people dying on The Walking Dead, faster than zombies in an apocalyptic movie, AMC zombie drama has needed to cast new actors for the series.

AMC has recently announced that Seth Gilliam from HBO’s The Wire, has joined Walking Dead as a new series regular for the fifth season.

It is expected that he will play a character listed as Michael Todd (his real name is being kept under wraps).

Michael is described as having two sides, displaying a friendly humor, but also having a haunted side from a dark secret.

You may also remember Gilliam from MTV’s Teen Wolf, where it is expected that he will continue to do while acting on Walking Dead.

Seth Gilliam is the third of three other actors from the cast of HBO’s The Wire’. Other cast members include The Wire’s Cutty (Chad Coleman) and D’Angelo (Larry Gilliard Jr.).

Maybe we can get lucky if they add Omar Little (played by Michael K. Williams).  Not only The Wire’s most badass character, but most likely the most badass character in the history of television.

New Teen Accuses Bryan Singer of Using a Bodyguard To Force Him into Sex

0

If you presumed that this Bryan Singer case was over well you are wrong. Things just got weirder and nastier.

After an initial accuser stepped out of the shadows to alleged that the X-Men director flew him to Hawaii for forced sex when he was 17, a new accuser alleges an assault after the Superman Returns after party in London.

The sexual assault involves a muscular bodyguard trying to force him into sex with Bryan Singer.

The suit says Singer and Gary Goodard — 1 of 3 execs [initially accuser Michael] Egan also accused of molestation — started to touch his client sexually … and the teen asked them to stop.

According to the docs — Goodard allegedly brought a “large, musclebound man” in the room to try forcing the boy into having sex by smacking him around.

The anonymous teen claims Singer molested him in a number of ways — but they never had sex — then the director requested the boy to sit on his chest and ejaculate on top of him.  According to the docs, the teen obliged because he thought he’d be anally raped for saying no. [TMZ]

Crazy story to start out your week?

Many people are saying that all of these accusations are nothing more than fan-fiction to kill the careers of Hollywood elites.

Dramatic Loss in Wages for Actors? How Streaming Platforms are Killing a Career

0

With online streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon there are more opportunities for actors to work.

However, it is becoming more apparent that these streaming shows do not make as much money as regular television series.

On most occasions, when as how becomes successful on network television, the series is renewed, the lead actors of the show will most likely receive a pay raise. The pay raise is typically based around the ratings for a television show. However, since viewership statistics are not publicly available, there is no statistical proof that the show is performing that well and cannot be used in payment negotiations.

These streaming outlets are subscription based and not advertisement based. “The Big Bang Theory” makes over $300,000 for every 30 second ad but, because Netflix and other platforms use subscriptions there is no point to releasing their viewing figures. They only concern for these platforms is the increase in subscriber growth.

As streaming becomes more and more popular, it will become tougher for actors that are linked to streaming productions to argue for a higher pay. “We have to figure out how to adjust the math in order to calculate the value of these shows to the streaming channels,” says attorney David Fox.

Overtime it is expected for changes to occur but, in the mean time many actors may be cutting their paycheck short by signing on the dotted line of a streaming platform production.

Watch Last Night’s SNL Featuring Andrew Garfield – It Was Hilarious [Video]

0

Saturday Night Live featured guest host Andrew Garfield last night with a great set of routine.

The lead actor in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, featured his co-star and girlfriend, Emma Stone as they had the opportunity to goof on the movie without actually poking fun at it.

There was an extended joke featuring singer Beyonce. The monologue had Emma Stone make a surprise cameo and SNL would not be complete without a chance for Andrew Garfield to poke fun at Justin Timberlake.

0

Actor Ben Affleck has been banned from playing blackjack at a casino in Las Vegas after he was found counting cards.

Affleck, was stopped by security at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas while playing at a high rollers’ table. He would later be banned for life when he was suspended of using the card counting strategy.

Card counting is a method of using probability to predict the next hand. But, it is not illegal. However, it will get you banned from casinos.

Amy Schumer’s Speech on Self Worth is Inspiring and a Must Read

Amy Schumer’s Speech On Self-Worth Will Change The Way You Think About Yourself

Recently, Gaborey Sidibe gave an amazing speech that inspired you to believe in yourself. Now, Amy Schumer recently gave another speech and it was heartfelt and motivational.

You can read the full speech at Vulture and it illustrates a depiction of Amy as she battles with her self-image and how she deals with the words people throw at us on a daily basis. Here’s a clip:

Now I feel strong and beautiful. I walk proudly down the streets of Manhattan. The people I love, love me. I make the funniest people in the country laugh, and they are my friends. I am a great friend and an even better sister. I have fought my way through harsh criticism and death threats for speaking my mind. I am alive, like the strong women in this room before me. I am a hot-blooded fighter and I am fearless. But I did morning radio last week, and a DJ asked, “Have you gained weight? You seem chunkier to me. You should strike while the iron is hot, Amy.” And it’s all gone. In an instant, it’s all stripped away.

I wrote an article for Men’s Health and was so proud, until I saw instead of using my photo, they used one of a 16-year-old model wearing a clown nose, to show that she’s hilarious. But those are my words. What about who I am, and what I have to say?

I can be reduced to that lost college freshman so quickly sometimes, I want to quit. Not performing, but being a woman altogether. I want to throw my hands in the air, after reading a mean Twitter comment, and say, “All right! You got it. You figured me out. I’m not pretty. I’m not thin. I do not deserve to use my voice. I’ll start wearing a burqa and start waiting tables at a pancake house. All my self-worth is based on what you can see.” But then I think, Fuck that. I am not laying in that freshman year bed anymore ever again. I am a woman with thoughts and questions and shit to say. I say if I’m beautiful. I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story — I will. I will speak and share and fuck and love and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it. I stand here and I am amazing, for you. Not because of you. I am not who I sleep with. I am not my weight. I am not my mother. I am myself. And I am all of you, and I thank you.

I never really considered Amy Schumer a person for anything other than comedy but, this speech show’s another heartfelt and opinionated side of her that is outspoken, and not willing to quit.

With an industry that is consumed with outward appearance, and a society where most women think they are unattractive it is always nice to see others speak out.

It’s an inspiring speech and the full thing is a great read. If you have ever felt unworthy, upset, or insecure for one reason or the other, you owe yourself a minute to read this speech.

Movie Review: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

0

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a great example of great story telling, amazing computer graphics, and an amazing media strategy.

However, the movie is filled with cross-platform commercials, and cliche story lines making it is easy to get distracted and detached from what is appearing on screen.

That being said, it is easy to believe that each part of the movie was carefully calculated from the cinematography to the screenwriting. Producers took their time to create not just a movie but a feature film.

The cast was amazing, from Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone down to Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti. Each cast member truly embraced their role in a comic book movie and were comfortable on screen as heroes, and super villains. But, with the selection of Paul Giamatti it becomes apparent that for big budget feature films, you don’t need a Russian actor to be a Russian super-villain, just cast an Oscar nominated actor.

The filmmaking was terrific. The director Marc Webb definitely had a vision when he ventured into the sequel to The Amazing Spider Man. As an audience member you definitely feel a part of the adventure. The movie features slow motion scenes coupled with action wide shots and bullet-time effects, the movie becomes more and more of a roller coaster ride at Universal Studios than a $5 dollar movie screening.

But, there is an underlying tone of no creativity by the screenwriters. There are benefits to creating an outline when producers are seeking to make a film. It allows you to create a story. But, throughout the movie it seems extremely obvious that screenwriters were trying to fill an outline. Watching the movie it feels as though screenwriters were forced to hit unclear points to make logical connections rather than letting a story flow. It’s as though the creativity is demonstrated in the cast members and directors and not in the screenwriting. The movie is enamored with creating cliche moments and preparing the tone for another Spiderman sequel.

At the end of the day, The Amazing Spider-Man is a product and Sony has a plan on running the train as fast and as hard as they can. With sequels, there is less time for creativity and production. But,  considering all of the pressure to produce an amazing film, they did just that. The Amazing Spider-man is a movie that both kids, teens, adults and families can enjoy.

The story is simple, romantic, heartfelt, and the entire crew does an amazing job of getting you involved in a young-man’s life as he tries to balance saving New York City and those around him.
