African American Version of “Magic Mike” Starring Tyson Beckford Coming Soon

Producers are looking to tap into the world of male strippers once again in Chocolate City.

Producers are seeking to tap into the recent success of African American themed films at the box office with an urban take on stripping. Hey, if Channing Tatum can do it with Magic Mike anyone can.

The new movie will be directed by Jean-Claude LaMarre and will feature Michael Jai White and model turned actor Tyson Beckford. 

The movie will center on a a young college student who is struggling to make ends meet who meets the owner of a male strip club who convinces him to give amateur night a try.

Magic-Mike-ScreamsTyson Beckford will play Adrian, the club’s former star attraction who finds his popularity starting to fade as the new kid starts to steal the spotlight.

The filmmaker has a deal with Eone’s non-theatrical urban features division but is hoping to shop it to a studio that can take Chocolate City to theaters in a strategic rollout to urban markets where women flock to black male strip clubs. Story also has a faith-themed subplot involving the protagonist’s struggle to balance his religious upbringing with his newfound career on the stripper stage (Deadline).

“This movie was in gestation for 2 1/2 years, but after Magic Mike it seemed a natural fit for the African-American female audience,” LaMarr told Deadline.

“I researched the male exotic club scene and it’s massive across the country, with clubs specifically targeting middle-aged African-American women.”

Chocolate City is set to start lensing in Los Angeles in June.

“The Lego Movie” Spinoff ‘Ninjago’ Coming Soon

Warner Bros. announces a spinoff to The Lego Movie, entitled Ninjago.

Warner Bros. plans on releasing a sequel to The Lego Movie on September 2016. The new Lego movie will be based off the Lego Group’s popular ninja mini figures, Ninjago.

The Lego Ninjago features different styles based off previous Lego ninja designs but feature “Skeleton Army“, the “Stone Army“, the “Serpentine” and the “Nindroids“. These Lego ninjas are a modern version of the previous ninja designs.

Also expect to see Dragons in the upcoming Lego Movie. Dragons have recently become a significant part of Ninjago. A dragon was made for every ninja except the Green Ninja, however when he became the Gold Ninja a dragon was made for him. Also to note that Epic Dragon Battle’s dragon has 4 heads. Every dragon head launches a Dragon Sphere which is used in battle to knock down enemies.

There is already a TV series in works for The Lego Ninjagos. Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is a TV series airing on Cartoon Network. However, it has not been reported whether or not the cartoon version of the series will relate to the upcoming Lego Movie sequel.

The Lego Movie will be directed by Charlie Bean, the director of Tron: Uprising.

According to Deadline The Lego Movie team will join together again to produce the production. In addition, Jill Wilfert, Seth Grahame-Smith, John Powers Middleton, James Packer and Steve Mnuchin are executive producing the movie and Bryan Shukoff and Kevin Chesley will write the screenplay.

The Lego Movie, has made 452.4 million dollars since it was released in February. Warner Bros. distribution president Dan Fellman commented on the upcoming spinoff: “Following the huge success of The Lego Movie, we are very excited to build on the Lego franchise. We know there are already Ninjago collectors who can’t wait to see their favorite characters on the big screen. This promises to be a terrifically fun and thrilling entry into our Fall 2016 slate, with broad audience appeal.”

Jessica Chastain Offered Lead Role in HBO’s ‘True Detective’ Season 2

Jessica Chastain has reportedly been offered the lead role in True Detective Season 2. 

According to The Nerdist, Jessica Chastain was recently offered a role in the Nic Pizzolatto crime drama:

Recent rumors have stated series creator Nic Pizzolatto was seeking a female-driven cast for Season 2 of the hit HBO series, and now today, Nerdist has learned exclusively one of the names that may be on the bill in 2015: Jessica Chastain.

According to sources, the Zero Dark Thirty actress has been offered a leading role in the second season but has yet to accept. As for official confirmation, we reached out to representatives for Chastain, who have declined to comment at this time.

After receiving high reviews at the Cannes Film Festival, working on an upcoming Marilyn Monroe film, and the new Interstellar movie coming soon, Chastain is on the fast track to becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood.

According to Deadline, Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Company, a film studio that produces some of the biggest movies in Hollywood, recently  told his marketing team it has been a long time since he’d seen performances like these, and that they were to start working on the Oscar campaign strategy for Chastain.

With the recent success of Matthew McConaughey’s role in HBO’s ‘True Detective’ actors all across the United States were campaigning for roles in the TV series.

Jessica Chastain played several guest roles in TV shows before making her feature film debut in 2008 in the independent film Jolene. In 2011, she gain public recognition for starring roles in severe feature films. But, her performance in The Help, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. But, her lead performance in the 2012 thriller film, Zero Dark Thirty, Chastain became a household name and her acting was highly praised by critics.

It is also rumored that Brad Pitt was offered a role in HBO’s True Detective. HBO is setting up for a second season to top Harrelson and McConaughey first season.

Sony pictures is picking up the Goosebumps movie starring Jack Black as an R.L. Stine writer who finds his horrific creatings coming to life. If the movie is anything like the books, expect the movie to have cliffhangers every five minutes.

“Mind Puppets” Movie Extras Casting Call in New Orleans

“Mind Puppets” the movie is now holding a casting call for extras in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The new movie “Mind Puppets” comes from the Mexican writer and director, Juan Curi and centers on a hypnotism that goes wrong.

A hypnotist whose stage act is to give audience members different personalities, one believes shes pregnant, another thinks he will save the earth, etc. But, halfway through the show, having hypnotized ten people, he suffers a stroke and falls into a coma. The ten victims have no way of regressing.

Casting directors are seeking extras to work on the movie. Caballero Casting posted a casting call looking for a professional DJ. Producers will pay the talent $200 for the day.

Mind Puppets the rom-com currently stars Kevin Pollak, John de Lancie, Vinnie Jones, Esmé Bianco, Dan Franzese, Bill Brochtrup and Jack Axelrod. Mind Puppets is expected to hit theaters sometime in early 2015.

10 Things You Did Not Know About the “Godzilla” Movie

Godzilla dominated the box office this weekend with reports that this is one of the biggest movie of 2014.

The Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures reboot made a whopping $93 million dollars in the United States and an additional $10 million internationally for a total of $103 million in first weekend sale.

But did you know this was the 60th anniversary for Godzilla? The original movie was released in 1954.

There are a lot of little things you may have missed while watching the movie or happened behind the scenes. But, here are ten things you probably did not know about the latest Godzilla Movie.

#1. Godzilla, Scars and Nuclear Bombs

Godzilla’s appearance was covered with scars. This feature was actually taken from the original Godzilla movie that featured Godzilla with keloid scars. In the 1950’s version, the use of scars was to remind the audience of the survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, that left thousands of people scarred. This was to also enhance the concept behind Godzilla as a monster damaged by nuclear weapons.

#2. 60 long monstrous years.

This film is to release in 2014, Godzilla’s 60th anniversary.

#3. Sound Effects Testing had to be Just Right!

In order to create a loud monster like yell, the sound designers used a 12-foot-high, 18-foot-wide speaker array to blast Godzilla’s roar at a hundred thousand watts to get a good idea of his vocal power and strength.

#4. Cinematographer got lost and started working on the wrong set!

While filming for ‘Godzilla’ the Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey accidently went to the set of “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and he described walking around with his light meter, not recognizing anyone, as a “surreal, dreamlike experience” until he realized his mistake.

#5. It would take a normal person 450 years just to create Godzilla on a computer.

There are 960 visual effects shot through the whole film, 327 of which are Godzilla whose 3D model is made up of over 500,000 shapes. If the computer graphics were designed on a single computer, it would have taken 450 years to render the entire project.

#6. Godzilla’s design was inspired by… Lions, Tigers, Bears… oh my?

Godzilla’s design was inspired by bears and Komodo dragons. The face was particularly based on the heads of bears, dogs, and eagles. Designers the eagle “has a lot of nobility, it made him feel very majestic and noble.”

#7. The Marines didn’t like the movie’s script.

The United States Navy co-operated in the making of the movie, while the United States Marine Corps declined to participate after reviewing the script.

#8. Old school lenses

For the 1950s scenes, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey wanted “a peeled look with muted colors and diffused highlights.” To achieve this, he shot those scenes with vintage 1960s camera lenses and additionally had the shades of black in those scenes digitally tinted in magenta.

#9 Godzilla is an Anti-Hero similar to Walter White.

Director Gareth Edwards described Godzilla as an anti-hero: “Godzilla is definitely a representation of the wrath of nature. The theme is man versus nature and Godzilla is certainly the nature side of it. You can’t win that fight. Nature’s always going to win and that’s what the subtext of our movie is about. He’s the punishment we deserve.”

#10 There was a ton of research in order to make the movie!

Gareth Edwards and the design group reviewed all the previous incarnations of Godzilla’s design for influence on the final design for the film: “The way I tried to view it was: imagine Godzilla was a real creature and someone from Toho saw him in the 1950s and ran back to the studio to make a movie about the creature and was trying their best to remember and draw it… and in our film you get to see him for real. It was important that this felt like a Toho Godzilla.”

42 Movies and TV Shows Now Filming in Georgia

Hollywood’s film industry is shrinking. Here is the list of the 29 movies and TV shows now filming in Georgia.

More and more producers are leaving the palm trees for peach trees and deciding to film their productions in Georgia.

With a 30% tax incentive for film productions, trained crew members, and one of the biggest airports in the world, it is easy for any Movie producer to jump ship and swim to the Peachtree State. 

100’s of productions film in the state every year and Georgia is currently in the top 5 filming locations on the planet.

GeorgiaBut, expect Georgia to continue to grow with the opening of Pinewood Studios. Pinewood Studios is the state of the art production facility outside of Atlanta.

Pinewood Studios has recently opened their doors and Marvel has decided to film their next major motion picture, ANT-MAN in the newly built studio.

Marvel Ant ManEven, Tyler Perry purchased several hundred acres to expand to an even larger studio.

Michael C. Hall Kills Your “Dexter” Spin-Off Dreams

Michael C. Hall says sometimes he wishes they would have just killed Dexter in the series finale.

It has been nearly a year since we last saw Dexter Morgan hide away in the middle of nowhere. This was because Showtime refused to let the serial killer die. Instead, the network forced the writers to come up with a way to make Dexter live so a possible spin-off series could be made.

The writers originally planned to kill Dexter in the series finale, and told the Network where the story line was heading, and the network quickly replied, let’s be clear, Dexter will live. So, the writers of Dexter did not even have a choice.

IGN recently sat down with Michael C. Hall, about his new movie “Cold in July”. During the interview they brought up the possibility of a Dexter spin-off series. The actor replied that he had “no immediate plans” to revisit the role. But, he also replied that he learned “to never say never”.

“It’s very difficult for me to imagine someone coming up with something that is compelling enough for that to be worth doing,” Hall continued. “I certainly have no interest right now in playing Dexter. You know, some time passes and somebody has some newly imagined landscape for him that I feel is worth exploring, I would perhaps consider it. Beyond that vague notion, I really can’t say, and it’s not something I have any immediate plans to do.shutterstock_101694193 He is still alive, but for right now, I’m leaving him in the cabin.” [IGN]

IGN asked how Hall felt about the ending of the Dexter series, the actor commented that the ending of the show was not as great as it could have been. Hall said that Dexter changed throughout the numerous seasons.  “It was a many-headed creative monster, and certain heads were lopped off halfway through the life of the show. It was difficult to maintain a cohesive narrative in many ways, but primarily, in terms of the conception of the character, once he started to move into murkier, blurrier, more human territory, it became a very difficult thing to wrap my head around. But in the end, I think Dexter was always a pragmatist and, well, self-centered. I think it was his version of selflessness upon recognition that anyone close to him was going to be destroyed if he continued to indulge in intimate relationships. You know, his dad died, Rita died — well, once he decided that, he faked his death and erased himself, but he didn’t want to die. I honestly find it to be a pretty dark ending, and I think it upset a lot of people. Certainly, the shakiness of certain aspects of the eighth season maybe made that ending less palatable to people. I don’t think people were ready to be told that, because they were already feeling a sense of ambivalence for the show. But the idea that he imprisons himself in a prison of his own making I think is fitting [for the character].”

Dexter even commented that he wished that at the end of the seventh season Deb had shot him in the train compartment. But, that would have made it impossible for a eighth season.

MGM’s “MAX” Casting Call for Lauren Graham’s Photo Double

MGM’s next big movie “MAX” is holding a casting call for a female photo double for Lauren Graham. 

“MAX” is based on a true story about a Belgian Shepard Malinois military working dog returns from active service in Afghanistan traumatized by his handler’ s death. Erratic and dangerous, Max is adopted by the bereaved family and bonds with the marine’s troubled 14-year old brother.Together they unravel the secret behind his brother’s death and pull a family together again.”

Boaz Yakin from Remember the Titans will direct the film.

Filming is taking  place in Charlotte and surrounding areas this spring and summer.

Tona B. Dahlquist is now seeking a photo double for Lauren Graham so they are looking for a  Caucasian female, longer Dark brown hair, around 5’9 in height to work as a photo double.

A photo double is a person that replaces the credited actor of a character in a movie or TV show where the character’s body is shown but the face is not visible or not show clearly.

Lauren Graham is best known for playing Lorelai Gilmore on the WB Network dramedy series Gilmore Girls and Sarah Braverman on Parenthood.

Ryan Reynolds’ “The Captive” Movie Booed at the Cannes Film Festival

Ryan Reynolds is not having a good time at the Cannes film festival.

The actor recently attended the festival for his latest movie “The Captive” at the Cannes film festival.

The audience found the movie to be so bad that many people actually booed. The movie was received so poorly that Ryan Reynolds did not even show up for the film’s after party.

According to reports,  “Ryan definitely seemed a little on edge. Wouldn’t be surprised if he skipped out on his party because the film is getting terrible reviews.” Reynolds “seemed preoccupied on his cell phone” while the duo dined at the restaurant but was still “really affectionate” with his wife Blake Lively.

“[It] looked like Blake was trying to cheer him up a few times … she rubbed his arm like she was consoling him and kept whispering in his ear,” the source continues. “At one point, Ryan smiled … and leaned into her for a kiss on the lips.”

“The Captive” was reviewed by Variety and described as “a ludicrous abduction thriller that finds a once-great filmmaker slipping into previously entered realms of self-parody.”

The Captive, formerly titled Queen of the Night is a thriller film directed by Atom Egoyan and co-written with David Fraser. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Scott Speedman, Rosario Dawson, Mireille Enos, Kevin Durand and Alexia Fast.

The Captive centers on 8 years after the disappearance of a little girl, but there is evidence that shows that she’s still alive. Police, parents and Cassandra herself, will try to unravel the mystery of her disappearance.

The movie is reminiscent of the great feature film Prisoners starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The Cannes Film Festival is self described as “to draw attention to and raise the profile of films with the aim of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level.”

For Ryan Reynolds The Captive did just that but for all the wrong reasons.

J.J. Abrams Apparently Wrote This Note To The ‘Star Wars’ Cast and Crew

J.J. Abrams reportedly wrote a note to the cast and crew of “Star Wars: Episode VII” and it has leaked online. Before, you get your Star Wars‘ lightsaber out to celebrate, it has not been officially confirmed if this is an actual note from J.J. Abrams. But, we will keep you updated.

According to The National, the movie’s cast and crew will begin filming in the Abu Dhabi desert on Tuesday May 13th. Although details surrounding what they will be shooting or who will be there have not been released, the article does point out filming will last until the end of May.

Disney recently acquired the rights to Lucasfilm last year and Disney announced that they will produce a new Star Wars series. Last April it was announced that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles on the feature film franchise.

There aren’t that many details surrounding the plot on the movie, but it is expected for the production be a darker version of the previous three Star Wars production.

Star Wars: Episode 7 will screen in theaters on December 18, 2015.

 

Netflix ‘House of Cards’ Season 3 Open Casting Call

Netflix’s “House of Cards” is holding an open casting call for the third season of the dramatic hit series.

Kimberly Skyrme Casting is currently seeking talent for House of Cards Season 3.

Filming will take place in Baltimore, MD area from June 12th through July 15th, 2014.

Filming in Maryland was nearly moved out of the state after tensions between producers and state representatives.

But after a tense debate, ‘House of Cards’ receives a total of $11.5 million and an additional $7.5 million in grants.

“Spoiler alert: We’re going to keep the 3,700 jobs and more than 100 million dollars of economic activity and investment that House of Cards generates right here in Maryland,” Gov. Martin O’ Malley said on his blog. “Media Rights Capital has been a great supporter of the people and entertainment community in Maryland, and we couldn’t be happier to continue our partnership.”

According to The Baltimore Sun, casting directors are seeking to cast a several roles for the third season of House of Cards.
