How to Get Cast in The CW’s ‘Powerpuff’

The Powerpuff Girls live-action TV series is now casting in Atlanta, Georgia.

Deadline reports the Cartoon Network series The Powerpuff Girls is getting a live-action TV series.  The new series is created by Greg Berlanti, who created Arrowverse on The CW. Juno’s Diablo Cody and Veronica Mars’ Heather Regnier will write the script for the series. The upcoming series will center on Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup as they go through their 20s after their life as superheroes has ended. Now dealing with the extraordinary responsibilities they had during their youth, the three girls have to work together once again to save the world.

The Powerpuff Girls originally debuted on Cartoon Network in 1998. The original series was created by Craig McCracken and focused on the lives of three sisters, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, who were made in a lab by Professor Utonium, who becomes their father. During the process of creating them with a mixture of “sugar, spice, and everything nice,” the Professor accidentally spilled in “Chemical X,” which gave the three little girls their superpowers.

What is Powerpuff plot?

The girls are presently in their 20s, disappointed by the amount of responsibility they had as children. But, they’ll quickly need to come back together to save the world once again. Blossom was a perfect child, but now in her 20s, she has several advanced degrees. Blossom’s superhero trauma has left her anxious and withdrawn. But, with a new threat, she decides to become a leader on her terms. Bubble’s initially interested in becoming famous rather than saving the world. Buttercup is the rebellious badass of the Powerpuff Girls. Now she is trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and shed her Powerpuff identity.

Powerpuff Production

This TV series will be the fourth Powerpuff Girls TV Show, following the original 1998 series, The Powerpuff Girls, the 2006 Japanese Anime spin-off Powerpuff Girls Z, and the 2016 reboot of the 1998 series, also titled The Powerpuff Girls. Powerpuff is the first live-action adaption of The Powerpuff Girls. This series will focus on more mature audiences rather than children. Production on the Pilot episode began on April 7, 2021.

‘The Nutty Professor’ Reboot is Coming Soon

The Nutty Professor reboot is coming soon.

A reboot for The Nutty Professor is currently in development.

The last 1996 movie, was a reboot of the original 1963 movie and starred Eddie Murphy and was a hit at the box office, earning $274 million in sales from a budget of only $54 million.

Project X Entertainment, which is the studio behind Scream 5, will produce the reboot, and James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein will be the key people leading its development. Vanderbilt, who has a large portfolio and known for writing scripts for movies including Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Rundown, will produce the project. The upcoming movie is currently in development, so writers, actors, or directors are attached to the project so far. Stay tuned for casting calls, news, and auditions.

In relevant news, Will Smith and Kevin Hart are teaming up to produce a remake of the 1987 Paramount Pictures “Planes, Trains & Automobiles”.

The original movie was directed by John Hughes and starred Steve Martin and John Candy as two businessmen trying to get home for Thanksgiving. The remake will be a modern version of the original with Smith and Hart playing characters who are forced to team up to overcome travel issues to get home to their loved ones.

Hart’s HartBeat Productions and Smith’s Westbrook Studios, are developing the remake. Aeysha Carr from Brooklyn 99 will write the screenplay and will make her feature film debut.

‘Ozark’ Season 4 Starts Filming in Georgia This November

Netflix’s Ozark will start production in November 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ozark Season 4 starts production this November in Georgia.

Jason Bateman, the leading actor, producer, and director of the Netflix series says filming for Ozark season 4 will start on November 9, 2020, in Georgia.

Ozark’s final season will split into two, seven-episode parts. Netflix typically does not like to have astronomical seasons. Lately, most Netflix shows end around 10-episodes for every new season.

Season 4 announcement is excellent news for Atlanta, Georgia actors, crew members, and fans of the shows as we were worried production would not get started until next year, which would mean the show would not release until 2022.

Bateman explained the risks with production and how fickle the situation can be, especially considering how the Coronavirus is spreading across the country. Due to the precautions, Bateman says he will not be directing any episodes of the final season since it would require him to interact with too many members of the crew. Also, if he or any of the actors were to get sick, they would have to shut down production.

Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ Final Season

Season 4 will feature two separate seven-episode runs, for a total of 14, and “mark the final chapter in the Byrde family’s journey from suburban Chicago life to their criminal enterprise in the Ozarks,” according to Netflix.

“We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right,” ‘Ozark’ Chris Mundy said Tuesday in a statement. “It’s been such a great adventure for all of us — both on-screen and off — so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”

“A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes,” Jason Bateman said. “I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

“‘Ozark’ is a gripping drama that has captivated audiences all around the world and garnered tremendous critical acclaim,” Cindy Holland, vice president of original content at Netflix, added. “We’re so grateful to Chris, Jason, Laura, Julia, and the entire cast and crew for all their tireless dedication to the show and can’t wait to see how the Byrdes’ journey comes to a close.”

“Ozark” has received 14 Emmy nominations, with two wins. Jason Bateman won for directing and Garner for supporting actress. The series has also received two Golden Globe nominations and six Screen Actors Guild (SAG) nominations.

A movie starring Ben Affleck was supposed to start filming in the United States. However, due to the lack of COVID-19 Coronavirus testing material and fast lab results, producers moved the filming location to Canada.

Ben Affleck’s latest movie is just one of several projects leaving the U.S. for Canada, the U.K., and Australia due to the Coronavirus.

According to a CNBC report, Solstice Studios planned to film their latest movie starring Ben Affleck in Los Angeles last April. However, the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic shut down productions. The lack of widely available is what’s causing producers to reconsider filming in the United States. Now, the movie will shoot in Vancouver, Canada, this October 2020.

Hollywood is Leaving U.S.

“It became quite clear very quickly that it was impossible,” Mark Gill, president, and CEO of Solstice Studios told CNBC reporters.

COVID-19 cases continued to rise in California and forced the studio to look at other filming locations in America, including Austin, Texas. However, evidence in Texas made it clear production could not handle the three tests per week required for actors and crew members if producers chose to film in the U.S.

“The problem is there is a shortage of tests, a delayed time between the test and the lab result, and that would put us in immediate violation of our agreement with the unions who represent that cast and crew,” Gill explained to CNBC.

Gill added that production looked at Australia and the United Kingdom as other possible filming locations.

The lack of COVID-19 testing materials has hurt the United States’ response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Also, the delays for processing test results have hurt those waiting days, while potentially infecting others with the Coronavirus.

Currently, the United States is running 600,000 tests per day, but public health specialists argue that the U.S. needs to process millions a day to reopen the economy. As a result, Hollywood is leaving the U.S. film in potentially safer filming locations.

Producer Shaun MacGillivray, the president of MacGillivray Freeman Films, says budgets are increasing about “20 to 25% more” to obtain tests and laboratories, which is hurting indie production companies.

Filming in Atlanta

It is essential to note last month, CEO of Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Frank Patterson, said the studio conducted over 1,000 tests and had less than two dozen positive results. Most of the positive results came from part-time workers. 

Pinewood Atlanta Studios president and CEO Frank Patterson said his 700-acre Fayetteville studio is resuming production. Patterson told “Morning Edition” Pinewood should continue production by this Fall.

“Netflix posted significant gains and subscribers this last quarter, Disney+ is growing through the roof, and these subscription services are what’s entertaining us right now, while we’re all locked in,” Patterson said in May.

“Subscribers want to see new shows, and those new shows have been stopped for a couple of months. It’s hard to put a dollar figure on what that means.”

That said since so many projects are considering anywhere but America, it is leaving many entertainment workers, actors, and production workers, out of work.
