Rachel McAdams will play Margaret Simon’s mother’s role in the upcoming movie adaptation of Judy Blume’s novel, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. The actress signed on to star in the upcoming movie as the main character’s mother, Barbara Simon.
Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret was published in 1970 and has become Judy Blume’s most popular and beloved book. The book centers around Margaret Simon, a sixth-grader who has a ton of questions in this coming-of-age story.
Rachel McAdams has starred in several movie adaptations, including The Notebook, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel. She also played one of the leading roles in Mean Girls, a film based on Rosalind Wiseman’s self-help book Queen Bees and Wannabees.
The film producers also cast Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret Simon, the 12-year-old best known for her role in the Ant-Man film series and has starred in the HBO series Togetherness.
Production is set to start this April, and Blume is confident the movie will stay true to the book. The author resisted turning her book into a movie for over 50 years but signed over the rights to producer James L. Brooks’ production company Gracie Films in 2018. Over the last few years, the team worked on a screenplay and now the casting decision.

Background actors & Drivers with Cars in this scene will work 2 DAYS – currently on the schedule shooting May 26 & May 30.
–Drivers with 1960’s & early 1970’s cars, you will be in the scene as well as a background actor, not just your vehicle. Normal day rate of 70/8 plus $175 bump for use of car in the scene. Additional pay bumps listed below.
–Looking for adults, 18 & up, that have NOT worked on AYTG – Margaret yet. We have options of working both May 26 & May 30 or just May 26. Normal BG rate 70/8, additional pay bumps are listed below.
–We do have some featured roles we will be submitting to the director, for her to select, that will be working on May 26 only (not the 30th). If you fit the description of one of our featured roles, we will let you know if we are submitting you. Pay rate for featured roles is 125/10, additional pay bumps are listed below.

You must attend 3 appointments before filming!
Covid test MUST be completed at our drive thru facility only, we cannot accept outside results. Even if you have been vaccinated, you must test the day prior to your fitting & the day prior to working on set. We want to ensure the safety of everyone! Appointments do not have to be made for Covid testing you can go anytime between 7:30 am – 3:00 pm whatever time between those hours is convenient for your schedule.
Wardrobe fittings are specific times & will be made upon booking. If you have a specific time you’re available on the wardrobe fitting days listed above, for the role you’re submitting for, please include that in your submission email. We will try to accommodate that.

- Wardrobe Fitting – Wednesday, April 21 – we do fittings from 9:00 am every 30 minutes until 5:30 pm. With a break between 1:00 – 2:00, last fitting is 5:30 PM
- Covid Test #2 Tuesday, May 18 – anytime between 7:30 am – 3:00 pm
- Film – Wednesday, May 19 & possibly Thursday, May 20

FILM DATE: APRIL 8th. Must be 100% available on the film date.
Anyone Selected will be required to have am arranged and paid by production Covid Test prior to filming.
