The Russo brothers will direct the movie based on Nico Walker’s New York Times bestselling novel.

The movie centers around the true-life story of a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed PTSD. He becomes addicted to opioids and begins robbing banks. He is caught in 2011 and set to be released in 2020.

Casting directors are necessarily the gatekeepers for actors in the film industry. That said, it is essential to note casting directors do not make the final decision. However, they do select a group of actors that they believe is the best fit for the role and show those talents to the director of the project.
As you can imagine, directors focus on the script, the storyline, and the storyboard. Producers are focused on the budget. Casting directors concentrate on the actors for each role. While a director and a producer may work on a few projects in their lifetime, casting directors are continuously working, and it is common to see a casting director working on multiple projects every year. In fact, Sarah Finn, the casting director behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is known for casting multiple projects at once.
In the film industry, there are hundreds of casting directors, and each casting director has a different process as to how they handle auditions, casting calls, and who they hire for a project.
A casting director is responsible for finding talent and holding auditions for a TV show, movie, commercial or any other kind of project.
Most casting directors work with the director and the producer to find the right talent for a TV show or movie.
Casting directors are known for re-using talent on multiple projects, and talented casting director has the authority to influence casting decisions and finding undiscovered talent in talent teachers.
The union for casting directors is known as the Casting Society of America and currently has over two hundred casting directors and casting associates registered across the country. Casting directors are always looking for new talent, which is excellent news for aspiring actors.
What does a casting associate do?
Many prominent casting directors have casting associates working for them.
The associates help the casting director with organizing and running the auditions, creating sides, and dealing with the paperwork.
Associates frequently set-up the first casting calls and initial submissions.
Casting Director Internships
Internships for casting directors are usually held for college students and are focused on people wanting to get into the film industry or learning more about the casting business.
A casting director internship is usually an unpaid position, and interns may or may not have an influence on casting decisions.
While casting director interns do not have very much influence, casting interns do have the opportunity to network with significant influencers in the film business.
How do casting directors find actors?
During auditions, casting directors control the process. The producer hires the casting director, who is responsible for finding and discovering talent.
Casting directors are looking for trustworthy actors who can do their job once they are on set. To reduce the likelihood of an actor being unable to accomplish their career, most casting directors contact talent agencies, managers, and actors they know and can trust.
As a result, it may be difficult for an aspiring actor to get discovered, as a casting director’s reputation is how well an actor performs on set.
Top talent agencies
Actors signed to a principal talent agency are more likely to gain the attention of a casting director.
Casting directors trust the top agencies because the agency has a reputation for signing talented and noteworthy actors.
Another reason is major talent agencies usually sign popular actors.
Directors
Another way for actors to gain the attention of casting directors is knowing the director or producer on a project.
Since directors and producers usually make the final decision on who gets hired for the acting job, it is not uncommon for a director to refer an actor for a particular role.
However, this is not typical in TV shows or bigger productions, because studios will likely have more influence on who is hired for a project than the director and producer.
Other casting directors, casting associates, or assistants
Casting directors know each other. If a casting director refers an actor to another casting director, that actor is more likely to have another audition.
Resume
Actors with an extensive resume on major TV shows and movies are more likely to have an audition. Having a list of familiar TV shows gives you a significant stamp of approval because they were good enough for one project, which gives credence to their future work.
Social Media
If a casting director can follow your work on Instagram, YouTube, or Snapchat, then you open the doors to new opportunities; This is an excellent way for undiscovered aspiring talent to get discovered.

According to reports, Netflix has greenly and set a 2020 production start for the upcoming movie ‘Red Notice.’ The film is a global action heist movie and stars Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds. It is is an international action thriller centered around the pursuit of the most wanted art thief in the world.
Deadline reports, ‘Red Notice’, was one of the biggest movies brokered last year. The deal includes a $20 million salary for Johnson and an eight-figure agreement for the movie’s director. As a result, Netflix now has a production budget in the $130 million range.

Update September 13, 2020: Ryan Reynolds Shares COVID-19 Test Experience As Production Restarts on Netflix’s ‘Red Notice’
Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot are heading back to work.
After taking a COVID-19 nose swab test, the Deadpool actor tweeted he has returned to production for his upcoming Georgia-filmed production, Red Notice. The actor shared photos of him undergoing the Coronavirus COVID-19 swab test on Saturday.
“The Covid Test is quick and easy. The doctor places the swab up your nose, just deep enough to tickle your childhood memories and then it’s over,” he joked. “No matter what you say to him, he won’t buy you dinner first.”
This news comes after Netflix announced production would shut down over Coronavirus safety concerns for Red Notice, which also stars Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson.
Gal Gadot also shared a similar social media post confirming Red Notice production has started.She wrote she is “getting ready to head back to the Red Notice set.”

Update August 3, 2020: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson announced his production company will resume filming the Netflix film ‘Red Notice’ in a “quarantined bubble” next month.
Johnson’s production team, Seven Bucks Production, and Netflix are working together to create a “quarantined bubble” for the filmmakers and crew, the actor revealed on Saturday in a message and video via his Instagram account.
Johnson says he is receiving advice from the NBA to create a bubble for the production team.
“They’ve been great in terms of sharing with us what has been effective with their bubble,” Johnson said. “And we are able to implement that in our bubble.”
He also acknowledged that the road back to work will be “tricky.” “There’s no blueprint here, we’re in the beta phase every step of the way,” Johnson said.
Johnson did not reveal how long people are expected to work and live in the quarantined bubble.
This news comes after Tyler Perry, successfully filmed an entire season of his BET series ‘Sistas’ in a quarantined bubble in Atlanta, Georgia. After wrapping production on his BET series “Sistas” without a COVID-19 during the two-week shoot. Now, production for “The Oval” is ramping up as the cast and crew are setting up to arrive at Tyler Perry Studios on Thursday. Tyler Perry says there is not much he plans to do differently this time around, especially when it comes to wearing masks and around the campus.
“I made sure that the cast and crew and everybody wore their masks when they weren’t on set because I do know for a fact that masks help stop the spread — scientifically, I know that,” Perry tells Variety. “And everybody adhered to that, even though we were all testing negative. I just didn’t want someone to be incubating with [COVID-19] for three to 12 days, and we not know it.”
Tyler Perry and the production crew for “Sistas” wore their masks for 12 to 14 hours at a time while shooting the 22-episode season.
“Listen, I was the mask police. Every time I saw something I was screaming about it,” Perry says. “It’s summer in Georgia so credit to the crew — it’s burning up here and they were still doing the right thing. So, I gave a lot more breaks for people to have water because we had a couple people that got dehydrated from all the heat, and the water breaks were actually the ‘breath break’ where you can pull your mask down, drink some water and get some fresh air.”
