Future Filmmakers Challenge by the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris campaign featuring M. Night Shyamalan is now accepting submissions.

M. Night Shyamalan, the director of The Sixth Sense and Glass is teaming up with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ campaign for a new filmmaking contest.

The program is called the “Future Filmmakers Challenge”. The Biden Harris campaign is looking for storytellers, artists, and creators to submit a film up to 90 seconds about voting.

This news comes after the first 2020 Presidential Debate. According to TVLine, Tuesday night’s first presidential debate of 2020 reached about 29 million total viewers across ABC (which accounted for the largest broadcast crowd, with 11 million), NBC (8 million), CBS (5.3 million), and Fox (4.5 million), according to Nielsen fast nationals.

In relevant news, Dwayne Johnson endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for the 2020 Presidential Election. On Sunday, the actor and former University of Miami football player made what he says is his “first-ever (public) presidential endorsement” by announcing support for the former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden and Harris will challenge President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on Election Day, November 3. Dwayne Johnson acknowledged his complicated voting record in an Instagram post while announcing his endorsement. The 48-year-old actor praises Biden for leading “in my opinion, with great compassion, and heart, and drive, but also the soul.” He considers the “smart, tough” Harris, meanwhile, to be a “certified badass.”

‘The Lion King’ Sequel is Coming Soon with ‘Moonlight’ Director Barry Jenkins

The Lion King sequel is in development with Academy-Award winning director Barry Jenkins.

Disney is working on a sequel to The Lion King with Barry Jenkins, the director behind Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk.

“Helping my sister raise two young boys during the ’90s, I grew up with these characters,” Jenkins said. “Having the opportunity to work with Disney on expanding this magnificent tale of friendship, love and legacy while furthering my work chronicling the lives and souls of folk within the African diaspora is a dream come true.”

The sequel will be a 2019 realistic remake, rather than a cartoon version. Jon Favreau previously directed the reboot, which made over $1.5 billion at the global box office.

Disney did not announce a release date for the movie and with COVID-19, it is also unclear when production will start. Variety reports the new movie will focus on the early years of Mufasa, the father of Simba whose death plays an important impact in the first movie. Jeff Nathanson will write the screenplay for the sequel. He also wrote the screenplay for the 2019 version.

The voice cast of the 2019 remake included Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen and as Timon and Pumbaa, and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Disney did not announce the cast of the sequel.

Disney has reimagined several of their animated classics including Aladdin, Milan, Dumbo, and Beauty and the Beast. Aladdin is also getting a sequel following the hit remake, which starred Will smith.

In relevant news, filmmaker Barry Jenkins recently finished filming in Atlanta Underground Railroad for Amazon Studios in early March before the pandemic. The Underground Railroad is an upcoming American alternate history drama web television limited series directed by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight). The series is set to premiere on Amazon Video.

Netflix, HBO, Apple Resume Filming in Philadelphia with COVID-19 Protocols

Three productions have started filming in Philadelphia following the worldwide production shut down due to the Coronavirus COVID-19.

Two TV shows including The Mare of Eastton and Servant are now filming in Philadelphia. Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie, Hustle has started shooting and hiring actors and crew members.

Sharon Pinkenson, the executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, said productions resumed shortly after consultations with health officials in Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester counties.

“Everyone in all of these shows, they’re living in pods,” Pinkenson explained. “Anybody that’s come in from out of state is living — for each of those shows — in a hotel. That’s a complete buyout and everyone quarantining.”

All members of the production companies are going through COVID-19 tests .

“Everyone tested, depending on where you are, at least three times a week, for each show,” Pinkenson said. “And principal actors and directors and people who have to be right in the front all the time, they’re getting as much as every single day. They have rapid testing.”

The Mare of Eastton is an HBO series featuring Kate Winslet. “A detective in a small Pennsylvania town investigates a local murder while trying to keep her life from falling apart.”

Servant is a psychological horror television series created and written by Tony Basgallop, who also executive produced alongside M. Night Shyamalan. The series follows Dorothy and Sean Turner, a Philadelphia couple who hire Leanne to be the nanny for their baby son, Jericho, who is actually a reborn doll.

Adam Sandler is set to star in the new Netflix movie ‘Hustle’ with ‘We the Animals’ director Jeremiah Zagar and NBA superstar LeBron James to produce. The movie will reportedly center around a basketball scout (Adam Sandler) who is fired after discovering a once-in-a-lifetime player abroad. He then decides to bring the player to the United States to prove they both have what it takes to make it.

Coronavirus: ‘Chicago Med’ Shuts Down Production After Positive COVID-19 Tests

Chicago Med shuts down production after positive COVID-19 tests.

Filming in Chicago is ramping up. Despite the growing number of cases of the Coronavirus, it has not stopped Chicago’s film industry from resuming. Several TV shows including Chicago Med, Chicago PD, and Chicago Fire. 

The Coronavirus has now impacted the TV doctors of Chicago Med. Production on the NBC medical drama reportedly shuts down for two weeks after a production team member tested positive for COVID-19.

Deadline reports the production team member was sent home following the positive test and producers decided to pause production out of caution, since the production team member was in close contact with the cast and crew.

Chicago Med just started filming their Season 6 and is set to premiere on Wednesday, November 11th along with Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. These other two shows will begin filming next month.

The Coronavirus has so far killed more than 200,000 lives in the United States. Production for nearly every TV show and the movie has stopped, with some shows getting canceled. NBC had to rearrange their fall schedule with reality shows since scripted shows had to get pushed back several months.

In relevant news, Hollywood abandons filming in the U.S. due to the lack of Coronavirus tests. A movie starring Ben Affleck was supposed to start filming in the United States. However, due to the lack of COVID-19 Coronavirus testing material and fast lab results, producers moved the filming location to Canada. Ben Affleck’s latest movie is just one of several projects leaving the U.S. for Canada, the U.K., and Australia due to the Coronavirus.

This casting is for a NON-UNION documentary recreation shoot. There will be spoken dialogue as well as actor-action which will be narrated by voice-over. Looking for actors/people who closely resemble the real Harold/Toni. Some variation in Height/Weight is OK.

And the, Greg Shapiro from ‘The Hurt Locker’ is also set to produce.

Peter Sollett already directed some hit movies including Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, and the upcoming Minecraft movie, which is now in development. He recently directed job two episodes of CBS’ Evil series.

Here’s the official description from Netflix: “Two kids want to start a heavy metal band in a high school where exactly two kids care about heavy metal. They try to find a bass player and fail. Coronavirus: ‘Lord of the Rings,’ ‘Cowboy Bebop’, ‘Genius: Aretha’ and Other TV Shows Resume Filming

Several TV shows, including Lord of the Rings to resume filming after getting shut down due to the Coronavirus

While the number of Coronavirus cases is rising across the United States, the Hollywood film industry is ready to get back to work. Scripted television shows have found ways to adapt to new normal, and many shows are reportedly heading back into production.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series is now filming in New Zealand. According to Deadline, production of the sho has already resumed, after having to shut down production in mid-March after filming nearly two episodes. During the hiatus, the screenwriting team started working on Season 2.

As we previously reported, Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings‘ TV series is now casting background actors. According to recent casting calls, the show is looking for “hairy people” and actors with other character traits.

Meanwhile, Cowboy Bebop, which is also filming in New Zealand, is heading back to production on September 30th. Cowboy Bebop is a forthcoming Netflix Original live-action sci-fi series based on the manga of the same name by Hajime Yatate. Alex Garcia Lopez (Daredevil) is assigned to direct the series with 12 writers hired to help create the story, including Thor Ragnorok writer Christopher L. Yost is on board.

Sweet Tooth, another Netflix series, has resumed production. Netflix’s Sweet Tooth will star Christian Convery (Legion, Descendants 3, Playing with Fire) and Nonso Anozie (Zoo, Game of Thrones).

Some productions resuming filming in the United States, including the NatGeo series Genius: Aretha is resuming production in Atlanta, Georgia. The NatGeo series centers around historical figures. NatGeo previously highlighted Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso. This new season centers around Aretha Franklin, played by Cynthia Erivo. Deadline reports after shutting down in March after filming nearly 5 out of its eight episodes. It is going to try to resume filming on October 1st.

In relevant news, Hollywood abandons filming in the U.S. due to the lack of Coronavirus tests. A movie starring Ben Affleck was supposed to start filming in the United States. However, due to the lack of COVID-19 Coronavirus testing material and fast lab results, producers moved the filming location to Canada. Ben Affleck’s latest movie is just one of several projects leaving the U.S. for Canada, the U.K., and Australia due to the Coronavirus.
