How to Get Cast in Kevin Smith’s ‘Clerks III’

According to reports, Lionsgate acquired worldwide rights to Kevin Smith’s Clerks III. Smith has written the screenplay and will direct the movie with all of the major cast members from the first two movies set to reprise their roles.

Kevin Smith’s first movie Clerks premiered in 1994 and has launched a universe: Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back; 2006’s Clerks II; and 2019’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

Smith said, “There’s a saying from the Tao that goes something like ‘To be great is to go on. To go on is to go far. To go far is to return.’ Thanks to Lionsgate, we get to return to where it all started with almost the whole cast that started it all! And for the first time since the first time we ever made a movie in 1993, we’re shooting the entire flick on location in New Jersey, as an ode to both the enduring allure of cinema and the resourcefulness and lunacy of its storytellers. Years ago, Dante and Randal made me a filmmaker – so now it’s time I return the favor.”

What is the plot of I Wanna Dance With Somebody?

I Wanna Dance With Somebody is an upcoming feature film produced in collaboration with Houston’s estate, allowing the filmmakers to use all of Houston’s hit songs. A huge team is behind the film including Clive Davis, who is a music industry legend, and Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and former manager.

Following a worldwide talent search, casting directors behind I Wanna Dance with Somebody found their star, Naomi Ackie. The BAFTA winner who is best known for her roles in Netflix’s The End of the F**ing World and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

“We spent the better part of the last year in an exhaustive search for an actress who could embody Whitney Houston,” said director Stella Meghie, per the Hollywood Reporter. “Naomi Ackie impressed us at every stage of the process. I was moved by her ability to capture the stage presence of a global icon while bringing humanity to her interior life.”

Ackie also earned praise from producer Clive Davis, who worked with Whitney Houston throughout her career.

“Naomi Ackie’s screen test was so powerful, it sent shivers up my spine. Although Whitney’s incomparable vocals are used for all the songs, Naomi’s extraordinary acting range enables her to masterfully capture Whitney’s unique charm, star power, and, of course, her personal struggles,” Davis said, via THR. “Naomi is the real deal and I can’t imagine a better choice for this iconic role.”

Pat Houston, too, applauded the casting decision and supports Ackie in playing her late sister-in-law.

“All Whitney fans have an appetite for perfection when it comes to Whitney and her legacy,” Houston said. “To transform someone into a matchless icon is virtually impossible. But with careful consideration, Naomi Ackie was selected based on her quality performances and her deep commitment to emerging into the woman that we all loved. We look forward to taking this journey with her.”

Sony TriStar hired a skilled group of talent for the project including director Stella Meghie, who is known for The Photograph and Everything, Everything. Oscar-nominee Anthony McCarten, who wrote the screenplay for 2018 Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, will write the script for the movie. According to People, the story of I Wanna Dance With Somebody will be “very frank about the price that super-stardom exacted” while also being “the moving tale of a simple Jersey girl trying to find her way back home.”

The movie is set to hit theaters on Thanksgiving 2022.

What is the movie Jane about?

According to reports, Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch is producing and will star in Jane, the debut feature film from the upcoming content studio and distribution platform, Creator+.

Madelaine Petsch will appear alongside Oscar winner Melissa Leo, Ian Owens, Kerri Medders, Nina Bloomgarden, Chloe You, and Chloe Bailey.

Jane is a psychological thriller centered around Olivia, who is played by Madelaine Petsch. Olivia is a seemingly perfect high school senior, who struggles with the death of her friend. What is the plot of Cha Cha Real Smooth?

Dakota Johnson will star opposite Cooper Raiff in the new movie Cha Cha Real Smooth.

Raiff wrote the script, where we will see him play a bar/bat mitzvah DJ, who at some points strikes up a friendship with a young mother (Johnson) and her autistic daughter.

Picturestart and Endeavor Content will co-finance the project, which Raiff will produce alongside Johnson and her TeaTime Pictures partner Ro Donnelly. Jessica Switch and Julia Hammer will oversee the project for Picturestart, which also financed and produced Johnson’s upcoming movie Am I OK? that just wrapped production this past week.

Raiff has had a ton of industry buzz after his debut film Shithouse won the Grand Jury Prize at last year’s canceled SXSW festival.

About The Son:

Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern star in The Son. The movie is a sequel to director Florian Zeller BAFTA-winning and Academy Award-nominated movie The Father and is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed stage by Zeller and Christopher Hampton, who is Oscar nominated for adapting The Father with Zeller, and won a with Dangerous Liaisons.

In “The Son,” Peter (Jackman) has a busy life with his new partner Emma, and their baby. This is thrown into disarray when his ex-wife Kate (Dern) turns up with their teenage son, Nicholas.

Something is wrong with Nicholas. He is troubled, distant and angry,. Both son and mother need his father’s help and Nicholas’ wish is to live with his father. Peter wants to be a better father, searching to help his son and they try to do whatever they can to maintain their family together.

Zeller said: “‘The Son’ is a deeply human story which, I believe, connects us all; I hope audiences will be profoundly moved by this family’s journey. Both Hugh and Laura naturally convey great warmth, compassion, and vulnerability… inviting our audience to embrace and feel every moment. The story is set in a vibrant and very much alive New York, an important character. The movie should make us call family and friends to tell them that they are wholly loved and not alone.”

What is Ordinary Joe about?

NBC picked up Ordinary Joe, which is a drama series starring James Wolk. According to Deadline, House’s Russel Friend and Garrett Lerner and the Batman writer/director Matt Reeves and his 6th & Idaho banner are running the series. It is co-production of 20th Television, Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, 6th & Idaho and 3 Arts.

Ordinary Joe centers around the three lives of the show’s main character after he makes a difficult decision at a crossroads of his life. The series begs the question – how might your life look if you made a decision based on love, loyalty or passion.

Reeves originally wrote a pilot script based on the premise over a decade ago.

“I still remember when Matt Reeves shared this passion project back when I worked at Twentieth. Russel and Garrett wrote such a compelling and emotional script that was expertly executed from page to screen,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, Entertainment and Streaming. “We love how ‘Ordinary Joe’ lets us experience the universal question of ‘what if’ through an incredible cast of characters and engaging storylines.”

  • PUNK ROCKER KID: We are looking for BOYS ages 12-15 who have Bass Guitar or Electric Guitar experience. Production will provide the instrument but the minor must know how to play the instrument (you will not need to learn any new songs but should be able to play a couple songs on camera)
  • We would prefer edgy “punk rock’ looks – longer hair or fun hair cut – kids with their own ‘rocker’ style – Wardrobe will be provided by production

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: All minors working on set must have ONE (and only 1) Parent/Guardian on set with them – this person must also clear a covid test – no other minors (siblings, etc) will be allowed on set

All minors working must have a Georgia Department of Labor Certification – if your minor does not have a GDOL# or it is expired please visit https://www.dol.state.ga.us/public/es/mie/minor/login asap to register them

If your minor is not registered with Central Casting they must be able to register before filming begins – in order to register your minor must have a photo ID (a lot of DMV’s are able to issue these – please call your local DMV)
