‘Final Destination’ Six is Now In Development and Coming Sooon

Final Destination Six’ is coming soon.

Fans of the horror franchise ‘Final Destination’ will be excited to learn a sixth movie is currently in development. From 2000 to 2011, the franchise released five films, which made $656 million at the box office. Nine years after the last episode, the original creator Jeffrey Reddick and producer Craig Perry have reunited to work on a sequel.

In a recent interview, Reddick said the new movie would not be a reboot.

”I think ‘reboot’ is probably too strong of a word, it makes it sound like they’re going to change everything, but it’s a Final Destination movie,” said the creator. “Craig is the master of coming up with crazy openings and set pieces. He’s told me a couple of things that happen in this one, and it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s not going feel like cash-grab Final Destination film.”

Details of the potential plot, the duo reveals they have been considering thinking about focusing on first responders as they are continually facing real death situations. “We’re toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen, and police,” said Perry. “These people deal with death on the front lines every day and make choices that can cause people to live or die.”

There is no director or official release date yet. But, ‘Saw’ writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are reportedly working on the movie. Stay tuned for additional news as it becomes available.

As we wait for the new ‘Final Destination’ movie, check out this video essay into the franchise by Ryan Hollinger. Watch the video above.

Amazon is Hiring 100,000 People Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Amazon to hire 100,000 people amid Coronavirus outbreak.

Amazon said on Monday the company would hire 100,000 warehouse and delivery workers in the United States to handle a surge in online orders, as many Americans have turned to the Internet to fulfill their needs during the coronavirus outbreak.

As shoppers, clear stores out of fears of a quarantine, food shortage, and lack of supplies, retailers are racing to keep food and cleaning items in stock.

“We want those people to know we welcome them on our teams until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back,” Amazon said in a blog post here.

“We want those people to know we welcome them on our teams until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back,” Amazon said in a blog post here.

Amazon said it would add $2 to its minimum $15 per hour to US workers’ wages through April. The extra pay for hourly employees is expected to cost more than $350 million, Amazon said.

It is not clear if delivery operations will be impacted due to government restrictions.  President Donald Trump advised limiting social interactions and gatherings to 10 people or less. The number of municipalities calling for people to engage in social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic is rising. On Tuesday, health officials have issued an important message for all Americans to limit social interactions to help healthcare systems prevent a rise of patients. As of Tuesday, 87 Americans have died with 4,490 infections, an increase of 1,000 confirmed infections from Sunday.

Coronavirus: ‘Saturday Night Live’ to Suspend Production Indefinitely

Saturday Night Live‘ to suspend production indefinitely amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

The latest TV show to go to the hiatus is ‘Saturday Night Live’, all thanks to the Coronavirus. NBC confirmed on Monday the late-night show will suspend production indefinitely. Saturday Night Live was previously scheduled to return from hiatus on March 28th with host John Krasinski and musical guest Dua Lipa.

The decision to shut down production comes after New York City mayor Bill de Blasio ordered all “nightclubs, movie theaters, small theater houses, and concert venues to close by March 17 at 9 a.m.

Before SNL news broke, most of the late-night shows announced plans to continue their tapings without audiences. But, by the end of the weekend, all of them decided to entirely suspend production. As The Hollywood Reporter reports, ‘SNL’ is currently 16 episodes into their 21-episode season and their finale typically airs in May. Considering events scheduled for May have already been canceled, it remains unclear whether ‘SNL’ will return with new episodes this season.

As Movie Theaters Shut Down, Universal Will Release Its Movies on Demand

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, Universal movies will be available to rent including ‘The Hunt’ and ‘The Invisible Man’.

As Donald Trump announced new guidelines to stem the Coronavirus outbreak, and the shutdown of non-essential businesses roll out across the United States, box office sales are taking a massive hit. Movie theaters are now sitting virtually empty. Until now, movie studios were patient and waiting out to see the impact of the pandemic. But, Universal will be the first entertainment company to break a long-held tradition. Universal will make theatrical releases available for on-demand rental starting this week.

Starting with ‘The Hunt’ and ‘The Invisible Man’, and ‘Trolls World Tour, Universal will offer titles for rent over streaming for $19.999 for 24 hours.

CNN reports:

Universal said in a statement that it made its movies available in the home now rather than because of the “current circumstances,” which have “made it more challenging to view our films.”

“Given the rapidly evolving and unprecedented changes to consumers’ daily lives during this difficult time, the company felt that now was the right time to provide this option in the home as well as in theaters,” the studio said in a statement on Monday. “NBCUniversal will continue to evaluate the environment as conditions evolve and will determine the best distribution strategy in each market when the current unique situation changes.”

Now, many theatrical releases won’t miss out on their favorite films while stuck at home. Some are complaining about the price. But, a trip to the movies for two people could easily exceed $20, and it could quickly increase with each additional family member. But, for a film that costs multi-millions to produce, $20 is a simple contribution to the cast and crew who worked hard to make a production for your entertainment.

CBS, Turner to Pay Technicians and Freelancers Set to Work the NCAA March Madness Tournament (Report)

Despite the Coronavirus hiatus, CBS and Turner will reportedly pay all technicians and freelancers scheduled to work the NCAA tournament.

CBS Sports and Turner sports invested a lot of time and money setting things up for the NCAA March Madness tournament. On Monday, news broke from Sports Video Group the networks would be paying “all technicians and utilities – including freelancers – who were scheduled to work the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, Final Four Weekend, and the Division II and Division III National Championship Games.”

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers director of broadcasting and telecommunications Robert Prunn shared the news and thanked CBS and Turner for their efforts.

“The IBEW extends its sincerest thanks to CBS Sports for this incredible gesture towards our freelance members,” said Prunn. ” We especially would like to recognize the efforts of [CBS Sports Executive Vice President, Operations and Engineering] Patty Power who, from early on, was communicating with us, understood the gravity of the impact on our members, and together with the CBS Sports executive leadership team, worked hard to make this happen.”

While details surrounding the deal have not been released, this is something CBS and Turner did not have to do. As a result, they should be praised for doing something outside of their contract. There has been a lot of attention paid to entertainment companies and how they would be compensating freelancers, crew members, and other staff working on such productions. But, on the collegiate side of sports, the broadcasters scheduled for extensive work over several weeks could easily be overlooked, and CBS/Turner did the right thing but not letting those men and women go unnoticed.

New CDC Recommendation Could Change Filming Schedules For At Least Eight Weeks

0

New CDC recommendations could alter filming schedules for eight weeks.

Filmmaking across the country is currently on hiatus as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread around the world.

The CDC issued a recommendation, which could become a mandate that all gather over 50 people should be canceled or postponed for the next eight weeks,  which would mean into at least mid-May. That would almost assuredly include TV show and movie productions, where even a barebones staff would consist of very few crew operators, crew workers, and producers on a set.

Beyond the following CDC guidelines, productions will have trouble starting production until they can be sure every person on set is not carrying the virus – along with making up artists, grips, background extras, and other essential staff. Given the lack of testing currently available to the public, it seems it would be a difficult task to complete within the next eight weeks.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

As such, many TV shows and movies have put their projects on an indefinite hiatus.

There are still obstacles to clear; again, it seems nearly impossible for production to restart production without negative tests for everyone. Many hope warm weather will slow the spread of the virus. Still, given how infectious the disease it is hard to tell how it will impact the world — compounded with the fact many are not abiding by social distancing rules, every day raises the exponential growth and spread of the virus.

Filmmakers, actors, and crew members should expect a more prolonged hiatus than 30 days or even the eight-week suggest by the CDC, as it appears optimistic. To assist productions in returning to filming, people can practice social distancing, abide by all recommended best practices, and complete testing, to stop the spread of the virus. Hopefully, this will bring things under control.

Movie Theaters Close in NYC and LA Due to Coronavirus

New York City and Los Angeles movie theaters ordered to close due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ordered movie theaters to close over the coronavirus outbreak. The closing of movie theaters is a first in history due to a viral outbreak.

New York City closed movie theaters on Sunday to stop the spread of the virus outbreak. NYC also closed restaurants, night clubs, and concert venues starting Tuesday at 9 a.m. Public schools will also close. Restaurants will only be allowed to facilitate take out orders and delivery beginning March 17.

Unless the government extends closings, LA bars, nightclubs, gyms, and entertainment Venus will also close until March 31. Garcetti said grocery stores and pharmacies would remain open. Los Angeles does not include other small municipalities, including Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Pasadena.

“This is not a decision I make lightly,” de Blasio wrote Sunday night on Twitter. “These places are part of the heart and soul of our city. They are part of what it means to be a New Yorker. But our city is facing an unprecedented threat, and we must respond with a wartime mentality.”

He added, “We will come through this, but until we do, we must make whatever sacrifices necessary to help our fellow New Yorkers.”

On Sunday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended public events of over 50 people should be canceled for the next eight weeks.

On Monday, AMC Theaters, the world’s largest movie chain, announced the theater would only allow a maximum of 50 people in a theater.

“With this action, AMC continues its commitment to adhere to recommendations of the CDC on social distancing, which is an extremely important concept in these unprecedented times,” AMC CEO and president Adam Aron said in a statement.

To lower the rate of infection of the virus in the two largest cities in America, Mayor de Blasio and Garcetti revealed the new plan. Federal officials pushed for social distancing to “flatten the curve” of infection, so hospitals are not overwhelmed by patrons.

The closing of restaurants is a significant blow to thousands of people working in the hospitality industry, especially those who are hourly employees. The closure of movie theaters is additional damage to the American economy impact box office, who are experiencing significant downturns in attendance due to the coronavirus outbreak.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo pushed New York City Mayor de Blasio to close schools. The mayor said it was a difficult decision due to the financial implications for families who are unable to take off work. The city will still provide food to those students who rely on meals, de Blasio explained.

Movie attendance dropped to a 22-year low over the weekend as many chose to stay home than see Pixar’s “Onward,” Universal’s “The Hunt” or Vin Diesel’s “Blood Shot.”

If you’ve ever been to a film set, they are very conscious about the safety and health of all their workers. So, this is something where we feel like they can continue to work. These are usually closed sets, so there’s no big gathering of people,” Brantley said. “So, this is an industry that can thrive in really all kinds of environments.”

That said, in the event of TV and film productions back out of filming due to the coronavirus pandemic, companies will still be able to receive the Georgia tax credit benefit if the production has spent more than $500,000 to the state.

“The key thing with our tax credit is what we incentivize employing Georgians. There is a portion of the tax credit that you can earn if you shoot here, you employ Georgians, and you can make your content here. And there’s additional percent if you broadcast, or go to the movies, or put it on streaming, and you see that Georgia peach that comes at the end. If they shut down, or don’t get to broadcast their show, they won’t qualify for an additional percentage,” Brantley said.

It is hard to deny the economic impact the film industry has had on Georgia’s economy. In 2019, the Georgia Department of Economic Development reported $2.9 billion in direct spending towards travel, hotel, lodging, crews, catering, props, and additional filmmaking equipment and services.

“So, the real number that we focus on is direct spending. These are the dollars that production companies spend in Georgia, and that’s $2.9 billion in 2019. People can talk about the economic impact of what those dollars are, but you can’t dispute where those dollars are spent in Georgia. They’re spent employing Georgians, catering, restaurants, hotels, really all across Atlanta, and all across Georgia. We really want to celebrate those dollars coming in the state and turning our economy,” Brantley said.

This news comes after Georgia was ranked number 1 filming location for blockbuster movies.

Georgia’s Film Industry is The Number One Filming Location for Movies

0

Georgia is the number one filming location for blockbusters.

Georgia’s film industry may face a ton of international competition but, according to state officials, the state’s film industry is still number one.

Georgia Film Day took place last week. It is a day that celebrates the advantages of having a booming film industry in Georgia. During the presentation, officials highlighted the Georgia Film Academy and its impact on bringing Georgia students into working professionals. Georgia Film Works also launched a new website, which is dedicated to the thousands of film crew workers, actors, and producers who work in the TV and film industry in Georgia.

Nearly $3 billion was spent on professionals in the film industry in Georgia.

“So, the real number that we focus on is the direct spending,” Bert Brantley, CEO of the Georgia Department of Economic Development explained. “These are the dollars that production companies spend in Georgia, and that’s $2.9 billion in 2019.”

“People can talk about the economic impact of what those dollars are but you can’t dispute where those dollars are spent in Georgia. They’re spent employing Georgians, catering, restaurants, hotels, really all across Atlanta, and all across Georgia,” Brantley added. “We really want to celebrate those dollars coming in the state, and turning our economy.”

Movies like “Bad Boys for Life”, multiple Marvel movies, and “Kumanji” have contributed to making Georgia the top filming location in 2019.

“We’re the number one location for blockbuster features, so those of the top 100 movies that are shot, in terms of the amount of revenue created, Georgia has more of those produced than any other place. And its because we have the “Avengers,” and we have Dwayne Johnson’s “Jungle Cruise” and “Jumanji” and those great movies that are coming out,” Brantley said. “So, when you have Sony, Disney, NBC Universal-Comcast these great partners that we have shooting their blockbuster movies here – those are the ones that have great economic impact. Lots of hotels, lots of meals, transportation to set. Those are the ones that have a big impact.”
