[Massachusetts] Casting Directors are now seeking stand-ins for an upcoming film on HBO. The premium-cable network has recently acquired the rights to a film project from the creator of “Seinfeld” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”. The upcoming film will star Larry David, Jon Hamm, and Michael Keaton. The film was scheduled to be released in theaters by Fox Searchlight. But HBO provided a larger budget for the film. David’s HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” recently earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series  and it is possible the series will return for a ninth season.

Now Casting…Metal Gear Solid The Movie?

Casting Directors have not started casting for the movie yet. but everything is on track as former X-Men producer signs on to produce this upcoming film.

Metal Gear Solid is one of the most successful video game franchises of all time and it is still on its way to get a big screen adaptation. Recently, X-Men and Spider man producer Avi Avrad has announced that he has come on board to produce the Metal Gear Solid the movie. The film is slated to describe the story of Solid Snake, a genetically engineered soldier whose mission to infiltrate a munitions factor and destroy a deadly weapon, known as Metal Gear.

It is easy to say the Snake of the video game franchise is more than a cliché mix of Bourne identity and Escape from New York. Avrad stated that he is taking his time to bringing the video game to the big screen in order to ensure the film comes out right. The game itself has had a history of being very cinematic in its execution but the challenge is creating a compelling narrative about a man sneaking around a military base. Casting for this film has not been completed.

Angelina Jolie to Star in Fifty Shades of Grey?

It has been rumored that Angelina Jolie was selected to star in the novel turned motion picture. But, more importantly, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is gearing up to hit theaters! Universal Pictures have announced that they are now in development for the motion picture version of the hit book ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. The movie turned novel centers on a literature student Anastasia Steele who meets a handsome, yet tormented billionaire named Christian Grey. It has been rumored that Angelina Jolie was selected to star in the novel turned motion picture.

Fifty Shades of Grey was written by E.L. James and is currently produced by Dana Brunetti and Michael De Luca. Moreover, the film will produced in association with Focus Features, Trigger Street Productions, and Michael De Luca Productions.

Fifty Shades of Grey novel also has a second and third volume titled Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, respectively. Fifty Shades of Grey has topped best seller lists around the world including the United Kingdom and the United States. The series has sold 40 million copies worldwide, and has set the record for the fastest selling paperback of all time, surpassing the Harry Potter series, despite, a mixed review from many critics.

It is interesting to note that in Brevard County, Florida, USA, Fifty Shades of Grey was removed from the shelves due to the sexual context of the novel.

‘The Hobbit’ Trilogy Release Dates Now Released

Hobbit fans can now rejoice! Hobbit fans will only have to wait seven months between the second and third installments of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Trilogy!

Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM Pictures announced last Friday the final in the series will be called “The Hobbit: There and back Again” and released worldwide on July 18, 2014. The second filmed was renamed “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”.

Here is the scheduled release dates :

  • — “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,’ Dec. 14, 2012.
  • — “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” Dec. 13, 2013.
  • — “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” July 18, 2014.

The series of is adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece “The Hobbit: series will be released in the latest film quality, High Frame Rate 3-D, IMAX, and 2-D.

USA ‘Psych’ Casting Information

Psych is an American detective comedy-drama TV series created by Steve Franks and is currently broadcasted on the USA Network. Psych centers on Shawn, young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department, whose “heightened observational skills” and detective instincts allow him to convince people that he has psychic abilities. The series airs episodes every Wednesdays at 10PM on USA Network. Psych debuted on Friday, July 7, 2006 and currently Psych has been renewed for a seventh season.

Psych also features Dulé Hill, as he plays Burton “Gus” Guster, Shawn’s best friend and business partner. He is also a pharmaceutical salesman. Unlike Shawn he takes his job very seriously and tries to act professionally, but eventually ends up tagging along with Shawn’s jokes and adventures. He is famous for his many aliases and being attracted tall types of females that end up being prime suspects.

Psych averages about 6.1 million viewers and is rated the highest scripted series to premiere on basic cable in 2006 for all demographics, according to the USA Network press release. Psych is also been nominated for 2010 Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Music Composition for a series.

Foxcatcher is an upcoming film about John du Pont, a millionaire who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and later kills Olympic wrestler David Schultz. Currently, Bennet Miller is scheduled to direct this amazing film with the help of Dan Futterman, E. Max Frye as the writers of this film. Foxcatcher is slated to feature Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, and Steve Carrel. Steve Carrel will play the role of John Du Pont the schizophrenic millionaire, Channing Tatum as Mark Shultz brother to the Olympic wrestler, and Mark Ruffalo will play David Shultz the Olympic wrestler who is later murdered.

ABC ‘Last Resort’ Pilot Casting Information

Last Resort is an upcoming American Military drama series created by Shawn Ryan for ABC. Last Resort is produced by Sony Pictures Televisions and will premier on September 27, 2012 and will be broadcasted regularly on Thursdays at 8:00 pm Eastern. The series is about a renegade crew of United States Navy ballistic missile submarine that ends up defying orders to launch a series of nuclear missles towards Pakistan, a decision that will cost the commanding his career. When his replacement also questions the same orders, the vessel is fired upon and the crew are left for dead. After realizing they have been declared enemies of their own country, they set up camp on a Sainte Marine, and declare themselves a sovereign nation with nuclear capability. However, the crew must find a way to prove their innocence and find out who set them up in order for them to come home to America.

NBC ‘Parks and Recreation’ Casting Information

Parks and Recreation is a comedy TV series on NBC. The series is led by Amy Poehler, who plays as Leslie Knope, a cute mid-level bureaucrat in the parks and recreation department of Pawnee, Indiana. The series was created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur and was debuted on April 2009. The show has currently ran for four seasons and was recently renewed for a fifth season. Interesting to note is that the directing of the show is in the form of a mockumentary, implying that a documentary crew is filming everyone in the parks and recreation office. Recently, however, directors have tried to steer away from The Office, which also features this type of filming style, by adding multiple camera angles and frequent jump cuts.

The writers of Parks and Recreation researched local California politics for the show by contacting urban planners and elected officials. The Leslie Knope character underwent major changes after the first season after much of the audience feedback saw her as unintelligent and stupid. The writing staff also tried to include current events into their episodes, including a government shutdown, which was also inspired by current global financial crisis.

Typically, Parks and Recreation received mixed reviews during its first season and many compared The Office. However, after the first season and changes to the plot, charcters, and filming style, Parks and Recreation was able to receive an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series and a large online fan base following the character Ron Swanson.

Amy Poehler, plays Leslie Knope, a mid level bureaucrat with a strong love for her hometown Pawnee, Indiana. Her ultimate goal is to one day become the President of the United States. Amy originally left Saturday Night Live after working as a major star for close to seven years. It was not until she agreed to be in the show that the actual concept and pilot for the show was written. Other main characters include Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubry Plaza, and Paul Schneider.

[New Orleans]Old Boy is a action/drama/mystery/thriller about an everyday man that only has five days to figure out why he was improsoned in a room for 15 years without any explanation. The film is going to be a US remake of the original South Korean film, and is based on the comic book OldBoy. Spike Lee is scheduled to be the director of the film, and is working in association with Nobuaki Minegishi, the original writer of the manga series.

Old Boy is in production with with 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks, Good Universe, Mandate Pictures, and Vertigo Entertainment.

Mandate Pictures (Lionsgate) in association with Good Universe and 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks is currently gearing up to began shooting the action suspense thriller Old Boy, a US remake of the original South Korean film based on a comic book.

The story follows a man that only has 5 days to figure out why he was imprisoned in a room for 15 years without any explanation.

The film stars Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson, Sharlto Copley, Elizabeth Olsen and Michael J. Burg. Spike Lee will direct. Shooting will begin in October in and around the New Orleans area.

Various roles are still being cast in the film. Specifically being sought are:*Young people between 15 and 21 years old to play prep school students. Girls are encouraged to wear a simple blouse, blazer and simple jewelry such as pearls and small hoop earrings. Boys should wear a white or blue button-down shirt, a dark tie and blazer.
*White-collar business types, wearing hair styles and clothes of the early 1990s.
*Upscale “uptowner” types, wearing hair styles and clothes of the early 1990s.
*Fitness instructors, specifically for yoga, aerobics and kickboxers.
*Female motorcyclist (only licensed drivers).
*”Regular” people, in present-day attire.
*Cars and trucks dating pre-1993.

Justified is a TV drama series created by Graham Yost. It is based on the Novels Pronto and Riding the Rap by Elmore Leonard and his short story “Fire in the Hole”. Justified follows its main character Raylan Givens, a deputy United States Marshall, in the city of Lexington, Kentucky. The Deputy U.S Marshal Raylan Givens is an”old school” officer in modern times, with an unconvential enforcement of justice makes him a major target for many criminals and superiors in the U.S Marshalls department. Thus, “justified” shooting a mob hit-man in Miami has him transferred to Kentucky, where Raylan was originally born and raised.

Dallas  is a prime time TV soap opera. The series is a continuation from the original series that aired on CBS from 1978 to 1991. It includes several actors and characters from the original series but focuses on John Ross Ewing III and Christopehr Ewing, sons of the Ewing Brothers, and their relationship with their fathers. The series is made for TNT but broadcasts on Bravo in Canada. Dallas has already been renewed for a second season that is scheduled to premiere in 2013.

House Husbands is an upcoming television show on BET. Comedian and actor Kevin Hart is getting ramped up to star in another role, this time, as the star of the BET pilot called ‘House Husbands’. House Husbands is going to be one of several original series by Black Entertainment Television. House Husbands is a semi-scripted spoof on the reality ‘housewives’ Television shows. Kevin Hart is scheduled to Executive Produce and star in this new show!

The series is based on a sketch that originally aired during the 2011 BET awards. It received such high appraisal by critics, and fans, that BET network executives asked Kevin Hart to further the sketch comedy into a 30 minute series on the network.

Casting directors are currently casting actors for several spots in the new show. Filming is scheduled to begin this summer.

House of Anubis is an American/British teen drama mystery TV series based on the Dutch TV series Het Huis Anubis that aired in the Netherlands. The series was originally created by Hans Bourlon and Gert Verhust. Currently, House of Anubis plays on Nickelodeon. Moreover, the series is filmed overseas, and is considered as the first soap opera created by Nickelodeon that is aimed at children and teenagers.

House of Anubis is a building dating from the 1890s and is the home for yen teenagers under the watch of a strict caretaker, Victor Rodenmaar Jr. Then suddenly a resident disappears without warning and the school staff eliminate the existence of the resident from the school. Since then, students are forced to deal with the loss of a classmate, roommate, and friend. But, weird and out of the ordinary things continue to happen to the group.

Youth Television News commended Nickelodeon’s attempt at a drama series saying “a good story always outdoes a repetitive sitcom”. Currently, House of Anubis brings in 2.9 million viewers and is ranked #1 among all broadcast and basic cable programs in its time slot for all pre-teen and teen demographics.

CBS ‘Hawaii Five-O’ Casting Information

Hawaii Five-O is an American Police drama series that is broadcasted on CBS stations. Hawaii Five-O is set in Hawaii. The show originally aired for twelve seasons from 1968 to 1980 and occasionally has reruns. Similar to the original version, it follows a group of state police task force that are set up to fight crime in the state of Hawaii. It first premiered in 2010, and was later given a full season order of 24 episodes. On March 14, 2012, CBS renewed the series for another season.

The series concentrates on the actions of a special task force created by the Governor of Hawaii, to investigate the amount of serious crimes occurring throughout the islands. The team is headed by Commander Steve McGarret, as they investigate crimes that range from terrorism to kidnapping. McGarret partners with Detective Danny “Danno” Williams, and they also receive help from Chin HO Kelly, and Chin’s cousin Kono Kalakaua. The task force does not always follow the typical chain of command and file directly to the Governor’s office.

Hawaii Five-O features Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park, Masi Oka, and Lauren German. Hawaii Five-O is also produced by Peter M. Lenkov, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci in association with K/O Paper Products, CBS productions and 101st Street Television.
