Steve McQueen’s HBO TV Pilot Casting Call for talented and experienced actors.

12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen is developing his first TV project, a drama for HBO.

According to Deadline, McQueen co-wrote a script with Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z) that centers on  “a young African-American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems … ‘Six Degrees of Separation meetsShame.'” (Quite the tagline.)

Russell Simmons will serve as an executive producer, Oscar winners Iain Canning and Emile Sherman will produce, and casting is already under way.

Casting directors are casting the lead role in the new HBO pilot directed by Steve McQueen. Casting directors are  looking for an Extremely handsome 22-35 year old man that is multi-ethnic or African American. The talent must be an excellent actor.

The USA network describes the series by answering the question, “What do you do when having it all is not enough?” by delving into their shocking and unconventional choices.

Three ways writing a journal makes you a better actor

The benefits of journaling have been studied in the past, but a recent study shows that 15 minutes of reflection at the end of the day leads to better productivity.

Acting is tough. You are placed in very stressful, emotional, and even traumatic situations. It was studied at the Center for Journal therapy, that individuals that suffer from severe illnesses found regular journaling therapeutic.

Here are three ways that keeping a journal will help your acting career.

#1. Keeping a Journal Increases Performance

In a study conducted at Harvard Business School, employees who journaled at the end of the day had a 22.8% increase in performance in comparison to others that did not.

Learning from direct experience can be more effective if coupled with reflection—that is, the intentional attempt to synthesize, abstract, and articulate the key lessons taught by experience. Reflecting on what has been learned makes experience more productive.

#2 Keeping a Journal Makes You More Creative

Regular writing can help you learn to process and communicate ideas effectively and coherently. It also allows you to memorize important information, and brainstorm new ideas. Basically, writing about your experiences not only helps you process them, it allows you to see other opportunities that were not apparent at first.

#3 Regular Writing Keeps Helps You Track Your Career

Regular writing allows you to be functional and help remind you of the mistakes that you have made and accomplishment you are proud of. The written record can come in handy when you are feeling down, and it can help you when you are unsure about what to do in the future. If you are stuck in a bad situation or about to make a major decision, a diary will help you pick out a pattern of things you want to follow for your career. It doesn’t just boost your self-esteem, it helps you make more informed decisions.

For the best effects, try writing it down rather than typing your reflections for the maximum effect.

“Loomis Fargo” Starring Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson Hiring Stand-Ins

“Untitled Armor Car (a.k.a Loomis Fargo)” starring Zach Galifianakis and Owen Wilson posted a casting call for stand-ins in Asheville, North Carolina.

The movie centers on the 1997 Loomis Fargo warehouse robbery that occurred in Charlotte, North Carolina where a night guard at an armored car company organizes one of the biggest bank heists in history.

Zach Galifianakis plays a disgruntled armored car driver who teams up with a pretty co-worker and a group of inexperienced criminals to steal nearly $20 million from a bank vault. The thieves leave a trail of evidence as they go on an excessive spending spree buying mansions, sports cars and boats. To add insult to injury, the driver’s team double-cross him and leave him alone on the run in Mexico while they live the good life in the United States.

The movie is set to star Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson and Kristen Wiig.

‘The Sunday Horse’ movie posted a casting call for a huge scene filming in Conyers, Georgia (outside of Atlanta).

The Sunday Horse’ is a feature film that is inspired by the story of Debi Connor, a rider from the wrong side of the tracks who overcomes prejudice and a near-fatal accident to become the United States champion jumper on a horse that everyone dismissed as untalented.

The movie will be directed by Academy Award winner, Vic Armstrong who is just coming off working with Nicholas Cage in ‘Left Behind’. The story is written by Fred T. Kuehnert, and will be produced by Ronnie Clemmer and co-produced by John Duffy.

New Life Casting is looking for a crowd of Cacausian men and women for a scene in the upcoming movie, “The Sunday Horse”. Filming is scheduled for June 26 through 28th.

‘Teletubbies’ Are Back! BBC Adds 60 New Episodes

‘Teletubbies‘ are set to return to BBC with 60 new episodes.

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, and Po, who became worldwide sensations in the late 1990s will return for new episodes on BBC. 

During the late late 1990s and early 2000s you could not go anywhere without hearing about the ‘Teletubbies‘. They were one of the most popular pre-school TV series and caused parents to search stores across the country in order to get their child a Teletubbie doll.

Although the program is aimed at children between the ages of one and four, it had a large cult following with older generations, mainly university and college students.

The mixture of bright colours, unusual designs, repetitive non-verbal dialogue, ritualistic format, and the occasional forays into physical comedy appealed to many who considered the show as having psychedelic qualities. Teletubbies was controversial for this reason. Other critics felt the show was insufficiently educational.

Teletubbies was also at the centre of a controversy when American televangelist and conservative pundit Jerry Falwell claimed in 1999 that Tinky Winky, one of the Teletubbies, was a homosexual role model for children.

Now, BBC is planning on reviving the TV series with 60 new episodes. The new TV series will be broadcast on a replica set of the original but, will feature enhanced CGI graphics to give a modern look and feel. According to the BBC, new episodes will premiere on CBeebies, BBC’s child network.

“I think that now is the right time to create new episodes of this much-loved, iconic show for the current CBeebies audience,” said Kay Benbow, controller of CBeebies.

New episodes will be produced by Darrall McQueen, a UK production company that has also produced “Baby Jake” and “Topsy and Tim” for CBeebies.

Maddy Darrall, executive producer for Darrall McQueen, said, “To work on the new evolution of ‘Teletubbies’ is like being handed the television crown jewels. ‘Teletubbies’ changed the landscape of children’s television and remains a much-loved pre-school series.” Darrall continued, “Our creative focus is on respecting the legacy and the heritage of the original and giving it a little creative scrub-up and technological sparkle to match the viewing expectations of a new generation.”

There is no word as to when the new Teletubbies series will premiere in the United States. But, assuming from the popularity in the 1990’s, it should be rather quickly.

Hollywood Producer Argues Atlanta Film Crews Have No Passion, No Experience

Hollywood Producer argues that Atlanta film crews lack experience and passion.

According to a recent article from AJCBuzz, a producer speaking at a Los Angeles panel discussing movie industry asserted that Atlanta-based film crews lack experience and passion.

Ellen Schwartz of Black Label Media was quoted saying that Georgia’s growing film industry is mostly due to the tax incentives and not due to the quality of film crews.

“There’s a lower quality among crews in incentive-heavy states such as Georgia because of their lack of experience. ‘That’s my biggest problem with chasing incentives. In Atlanta, this is all new to them. They have no passion and they think they know it all.’”

Black Label Media filmed “The Good Lie,” a movie starring Reese Witherspoon which filmed throughout metro Atlanta. “The Good Lie” centers on Reese Witherspoon as a brash American woman assigned to help the Lost Boys.

While filming, “The Good Lie” Reese Witherspoon was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct, after her husband was pulled over for drinking under the influence. Watch the video below:

After Reese Witherspoon‘s arrest, production was delayed for an entire week, EOnline reports.

Perhaps, Ellen Schwartz‘s feelings regarding Atlanta were biased because of Witherspoon’s actions, or, the quality of the crew she hired was not what she expected. Regardless, during the panel discussion in Los Angeles, she did not further comment on experience in Atlanta. But, she did shed light on the Sarah Jones accident arguing that film crew members should always feel safe to raise safety issues without the fear of losing their jobs.

‘Ashby’ Starring Mickey Rourke and Emma Roberts Stand-In Casting Call

“Ashby” Starring Mickey Rourke, Emma Roberts and Sarah Silverman is now casting stand-ins in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The comedy-drama Ashby follows the relationship between a high school student, to be played by Nat Wolff , and a retired CIA assassin who only has months to live.

Tona B. Dahlquist Casting posted a casting call looking for actors to work as stand-ins the upcoming movie, Ashby. Casting directors are looking for Mickey Rourke’s stand-in as well as Emma Roberts.

Mickey Rourke had supporting roles in several films, including The Rainmaker, Buffalo ’66, The Pledge, Get Carter, Spun, Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Man on Fire. In 2005 Rourke made his comeback in mainstream Hollywood circles with a lead role in Sin City, for which he won awards from the Chicago Film Critics Association, the Irish Film and Television Awards, and the Online Film Critics Society. In the 2008 film The Wrestler, Rourke portrayed a past-his-prime wrestler, and received a 2009 Golden Globe award, a BAFTA award, and a nomination for an Academy Award.

Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts, and the niece of Oscar-winner Julia Roberts. Her first movie role came in Blow (2001), where she played the daughter of Johnny Depp‘s character. Various small parts followed, until she was cast in the lead role of Addie Singer in Nickelodeon’s “Unfabulous” (2004).

More roles followed in various projects, including the eponymous heroine in Nancy Drew (2007), Hotel for Dogs (2009), 4.3.2.1. (2010) and Scream 4 (2011). In her 2013 return to television, she took on the role of Madison Montgomery in American Horror Story: Coven, the third season of the American Horror Story series.

CBS ‘Under the Dome‘ posted a casting call seeking extras for  a scene filming in Wilmington, North Carolina.

CBS Under the Dome is based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel about a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent dome.

Talent Powerhouse posted a casting call for an upcoming Capital One Venture Card commercial filming in New York City.

Martin Scorsese’s ‘Untitled Rock N’ Roll’ Casting Call for in New York City

The untitled drama explores the drugs and sex of the 1970′s New York music business as disco and punk music were on the rise.

According to Variety, the show will be depicted through the eyes of Cannavale’s Richie Finestra, a record exec trying to build a record label and find the next new sound.

Olivia Wilde is set to play Devon Finestra, Richie’s wife and former actress/model who attempts to deal with the Richie’s crisis as it causes strain on their family and relationship.

Martin Scorsese is set to direct the pilot, which is written by Terence Winter of “The Wolf of Wall Street” and George Mastras from “Breaking Bad” with Mastras working as the show runner.

Casting directors are looking for Caucasian men and women with long hair, African American men and women with afros, and men with beards and mustaches. Think 1970s hairstyles, and fashion.

Filming is scheduled to start on June through early August.

‘Scouts vs. Zombies’ movie posted a casting call seeking extras to play zombies in a huge scene filming in Los Angeles.

Scouts vs. Zombies centers on the eve of their last camp out, three scouts discover the true meaning of friendship when they attempt to save their town from a zombie outbreak.

The upcoming feature film features Patrick Schwarzenegger as the popular high school quarterback who is a rival to the boy scout troop. Scouts vs. Zombies also features Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller, Joseph Morgan and David Koechner.

The movie is directed by Christopher Landon and is produced by Andy Fickman, Todd Garner, Bryan Brucks and Betsy Sullenger.

Critically Acclaimed Actress, Ruby Dee Passed Away at 91

Ruby Deen, critically acclaimed actress and civil rights leader whose career spanned across TV and film, has passed away at 91.

Nora Davis Day, Ruby Dee‘s daughter, told the Associated Press on Thursday that her mother died at home in New York.

Ruby Dee has a long career in Hollywood. She received an Oscar nomination for her best supporting role in the 2007 hit feature film “American Gangster”. She previously won an Emmy and several other awards.

In 2001, Ruby Dee said, “I think you mustn’t tell your body, you mustn’t tell your soul, ‘I’m going to retire.’ You may be changing your life emphasis, but there’s still things that you have in mind to do that now seems the right time to do. I really don’t believe in retiring as long as you can breathe.”

The actress was surrounded by her family and friends when she passed away, according to her daughter.

Ruby Dee, met her husband on Broadway during the 1940s and together they became civil rights activists. “We used the arts as part of our struggle,” she said at an appearance in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2006. “Ossie said he knew he had to conduct himself differently with skill and thought.”

In 1998, the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dual autobiography, “With Ossie and Ruby: In this Life Together”.

Ruby Dee is survived by three children, Nora, Hasna and Guy, and seven grandchildren.
