Fashion icon Chanel is teaming up with the Tribeca Film Festival to launch the Women’s Filmmaker Program which will award female filmmakers $75,000.
According to an announcement on Variety, Tribeca Enterprises, the company that also operates the Tribeca Film Festival, has teamed up with Chanel to create a program that will help support, teach, and inspire aspiring women directors, filmmakers and screenwriters.
The program is called “Dubbed Through Her Lens” and the program will provide a master class, mentorship and support to seven female filmmakers over the course of three days this fall.
The program will feature actresses such as Julianne Moore, Rebecca Miller, Leslye Headland, Donna Gigliotti, Catherine Hardwicke and casting director Ellen Lewis. Along with several other industry professionals and film filmmakers.
The first year of the program will finish with a pitch session before a jury that will decide which filmmaker will receive $75,000 in support of a short film production.
