Film legend Robert De Niro gave the commencement speech for NYU’s Tisch School of Arts and he didn’t try to soften the hard truth for the graduates in attendance. “You’re f*cked”. Robert De Niro pointed out that the grads will face a lifetime of rejection.
“I hear that Valium and Vicodin work,” he says.
It’s a funny but honest speech that students who focus on creative and artistic endeavors need to hear.

WATCH: Marlon Wayans’ Audition Tape for Richard Pryor Biopic
The role now belongs to Mike Epps, in an upcoming movie that will be directed by Lee Daniels (Empire) with Oprah Winfrey also attached to play Richard Pryor’s grandmother. But, when the movie was in early development, Marlon Wayans was tapped to play Richard Pryor in a film that Chris Rock was expected to produce. But, that was 5 years ago in 2010. When Rock wanted to make the movie he was shocked to see Marlons’ audition tape.
Lee Daniels has not really spoken publicly about the project, although he did point out that Chris Rock loved Marlon Wayans’ audition, however producers and casting directors loved Mike Epps’ performance even more.
There were several other actors that were tapped to audition for the role of Richard Pryor including Nick Cannon and Michael B. Jordan. However, the role was later given to Mike Epps.
Here’s the footage; the first half, I’m told, was written and directed by Bill Condon (director of films like “Dreamgirls” and “The Fifth Estate”); the second half is a Pryor monologue.

In a video that was released nearly a year ago, Tina Fey reveals her worst audition ever and it’s a doozy. The video really explores Tina Fey’s journey to stardom.
Prior to landing several hit movies and becoming one of TV’s most watched actors, Tina Fey broke into comedy as a featured player in the Chicago-based improvisational comedy group The Second City. She then joined SNL as a writer, later becoming head writer and a performer, known for her position as co-anchor in the Weekend Update segment.
A few years later she co-starred in and wrote the screenplay for Mean Girls, which showed the world her acting, and comedic writing skills.

“Folk Hero and Funny Guy” is now ramping up production and filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
Indie filmmaker Alex Karpovsky, who plays Ray Ploshansky on HBO’s “Girls,” will star in the comedy “Folk Hero & Funny Guy,” which marks the directorial debut of actor-producer Jeff Grace (“It’s a Disaster”), according to reports.
The movie is a road trip buddy comedy about a struggling stand-up comic who goes on tour to open for his successful singer-songwriter pal.
“Folk Hero & Funny Guy” follows Paul and Jason, childhood friends who have drifted apart as they’ve reached their 30s. Jason is a good-looking and free spirited singer-songwriter whose career is taking off, while Paul (Karpovsky) is a struggling stand-up comedian whose once promising trajectory is now in decline. They reunite when Jason passes through town on his most recent tour. A night of drinking leads Jason to offer Paul the opportunity to serve as the opening act for his upcoming solo tour. What Paul doesn’t know is that Jason has booked the tour himself in order to win back an old flame. Paul’s woes are the ideal opportunity for Jason to get his number one wingman back on board.
According to Come Tour Georgia, “Folk Hero and Funny Guy” is ramping up production and will start filming in Atlanta in the next couple of weeks.
