Production for Stephen King’s Under the Dome is ramping up. Vanessa NCasting is currently seeking background actors for various roles.

Under the Dome  is an upcoming American Sci-Fi drama television series developed by comic book and television writer, Brian K. Vaughn but, originally developed by the master of thriller Stephen King. Both Vaughan and King will serve as executive producers along with Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Stacey Snider. Baer will serve as day-to-day showrunner.Danish director Niels Arden Oplev will direct the pilot. The premiere of Under the Dome is scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10PM on CBS. When I was growing up in Bakersfield, my favorite thing in all the world was to go to the movies on Saturday afternoons for the Chapter Plays. … I know that, Mr. Man! They also called them serials. I’m not stupid ya know… Anyway, my favorite was Rocket Man and once it was a no breaks chapter. The bad guy stuck him in a car on a mountain road and knocked him out and welded the door shut and tore out the brakes and started him to his death, and he woke up and tried to steer and tried to get out but the car went off a cliff before he could escape! And it crashed and burned and I was so upset and excited, and the next week, you better believe I was first in line. And they always start with the end of the last week. And there was Rocket Man, trying to get out, and here comes the cliff, and just before the car went off the cliff, he jumped free. And all the kids cheered! But I didn’t cheer. I stood right up and started shouting. This isn’t what happened last week! Have you all got amnesia? They just cheated us! This isn’t fair! He didn’t get out of the cockadoodie car!

You’ll need a totally clear schedule for both daytime/nighttime for the shoot on 3/17 & have reliable transportation to get to the set. This date occurs during SXSW when our town is busier than ever so you must have good follow-through!

For those who has been waiting on SAG-AFTRA to put the online eligibility checker up since the merger; here you go…

SAG-AFTRA membership is a significant rite of passage for every working professional in the media and entertainment industry. However, don’t be in a hurry to join unless you are sure that you’re ready to compete as a professional. For performers, you should prepare yourself by studying, performing in plays and non-union on-camera projects in order to build your resume and gain valuable experience.

When you are offered your first principal union job, we urge you to consider joining SAG-AFTRA, but understand it is a commitment. For broadcasters, membership in SAG-AFTRA is governed by the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement under which you are employed. Contact the National Broadcast Department or your nearest Local when you are offered a job in a SAG-AFTRA shop for more information and initiation fees. Once you are a member, you must abide by the rules of membership, starting with Global Rule One and the No Contract/No Work Rule. And, whether you are a SAG-AFTRA member or not–never accept work during a Union strike!
