ABC’s ‘Betrayal’ Casting Call for Extras and Cars in Chicago

Casting directors are now casting extras for ABC’s Betrayal filming in Chicago!

Betrayal is an upcoming American drama television series that has been announced to air on ABC during the 2013–14 American television season.

The series was created by David Zabel and stars Hannah Ware.

It is based on the Dutch drama series Overspel, broadcast by VARA. The pilot episode was directed by Patty Jenkins. Betrayal will join ABC’s Sunday line-up after ABC’s dramas, Once Upon a Time and Revenge.

The series will begin at 10pm on Sunday, September 29, 2013. It is ordered to a limited series, with 13 episodes per season.

ABC Family’s ‘Ravenswood’ Casting Call for Female Nurses in New Orleans

Casting directors are now casting background extras for ABC Family’s new series ‘Ravenswood’ currently filming in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Ravenswood is an American teen drama mystery-thriller television series created by I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick andJoseph Dougherty. A spin-off of Pretty Little Liars, ABC Family green lit the series on March 26, 2013.

It will premiere in late October 2013, following the Pretty Little Liars Halloween episode.

There’s Acting and then there’s ‘Acting for the Camera’: 3 Tips to “Play to the Camera”

Acting in Film and Television requires a special set of acting skills.

However, these skills are necessary to be prepared for different genres of film and television affect how you act out your role.

Acting in Front of the Camera

In film and television acting, you do not have the ability to gain feedback from a live audience of any kind. Instead of a theater full of people, your audience is just a camera, the camera operator, the director, and any sound, light, and make up techs helping you out for the day.

This means you need to use your creativity and imagination and pretend the supporting cast of technicians are actually part of the scene. When you play to the camera, you have to project emotions to the unwavering eye of the camera.

Here are a few quick tips to help you “play to the camera”.
  1. Know where the camera is at all times. If you are able to understand where the camera is, then you will be able to give the best performance of your life. It will be very pointless for you to give an amazing performance without the camera capturing your face.
  2. Know what the camera is trying to film. If you the camera is capturing a close up on your face, then it is not important for you to move your arms and legs since the camera will not capture it. Instead focus on what the camera is filming. For close ups focus on your facial movements and emotions. However, for long shots, focus on larger body movements to illustrate your character’s feelings.
  3. Know where the other actors and props are located in relation to the camera. If you step to close in one direction, you may take the other actor’s eye-line, lighting, or another sort of important elements. Understand where your “mark” (where you should be located) is and focus on staying on that position.

Quick Tip

Watch a television show or movie on video with the sound off. Without any dialogue to guide you, can you guess what the actors are trying to say to each other? Body and facial gestures can convey more information to an audience than you may think. By studying movies and television shows with the sound off, you can study how gestures can help an actor’s on-camera performance.

Overall

  • Focus on where the camera is
  • Concentrate what the camera is trying to capture,
  • Understand how can you express your emotions without talking depending on the shot.

If you can keep these three elements in mind, you will definitely see a difference your acting performance.

Breaking News: Tina Fey’s New Series Picked Up by NBC

NBC has ordered thirteen episodes of a new sitcom from Tina Fey and 30 Rock’s Robert Carlock, the NBC network announced today.

The Office‘s Ellie Kemper is set to star as a woman who moves to New York upon escaping from a doomsday cult.

The still-untitled show will debut in the fall of 2014, which is plenty of time to light candles at a variety of Liz Lemon shrines and altars and pray for a good show.

We will have to wait to see if this will be as good as it sounds.

Victor Rasuk Joins the Cast of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.

‘How to Make It in America’ star Victor Rasuk has been cast in the Universal and Focus Features version of E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

The actor will play Jose, Anastasia Steele’s close friend from college and romantic rival of billionaire Christian Grey.

Along with HBO’s  How to Make it in America, he is known for roles in “Raising Victor Vargas”, Steven Soderbergh’s “Che” and recent Steve Jobs feature film, “Jobs”.

It is expected that Sam Taylor-Johnson will direct this project along side Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti as producers.

Variety was one of the first news sources to report that Jamie Dornan will play Christian Grey after Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the film.

Dakota Johnson is still set to play Anastasia Steele.

According to Wegotthis, “John Wick will be directed by a pair, David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, both of whom have stunt/second unit credits on The Hunger Games, The Expendables and After Earth. Leitch is also a stunt coordinator on the Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending. While I’m a little unnerved by the notion of not one but two stuntmen taking on directing duties, that at least means that the action is bound to be good.”

New Orleans Extras Casting Call for The CW’s “The Originals” currently filming in the Atlanta area.

Casting directors are seeking actors to work on non-speaking, featured roles in The CW’s “The Originals”.

A spin-off from The Vampire Diaries and set in New Orleans, The Originals centers on the Mikaelson siblings, otherwise known as the world’s original vampires: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt).

It was revealed during the backdoor pilot, aired on April 25, 2013, that recurring werewolf character Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is pregnant with Klaus’ child.

Now Klaus must take down his protégé, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to re-take his city, as he originally built New Orleans. Klaus departed from the city after being chased down by his father Mikael, while it was being constructed and Marcel took charge. As Klaus has returned after many years, his ego has provoked him to become the king of the city. “Every King needs an heir” says Klaus, accepting the unborn child. The child is a first to be born to a hybrid (part vampire, part werewolf).

Mark Wahlberg’s Latest Production ‘The Roman’ is Ramping Up

Mark Wahlberg and partner Stephen Levinson, have signed on to produce the Julius Caesar saga The Roman.

Deadline recently reported on the upcoming Julius Caesar production:

It’s an origin story in the vein of Batman Begins that envisions the future dictator as a young general in the Roman army in a rarely discussed period of his life. Kidnapped by Cilician pirates and enslaved on their prison island, Caesar escapes with his men, and the decisions he makes during this time directly affect the political and social upheaval happening in Rome. As Plutarch tells it, Caesar maintained such an air of superiority during his imprisonment that he demanded his captors more than double the ransom they had placed on his life; after he escaped, he made his way back and brutally crucified the perpetrators as he’d vowed he would. Upon his return to Rome, Caesar powered into politics on his way toward ruling the empire.

Travis Baker and Richard Tanne, the writers of Cinema Cool wrote the script, which After Dark Films and Lionsgate picked up for a 2014 release date.

Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson will look to attach a director for the upcoming project before selling the production to to studios. But, it may be a couple of months since, Mark Wahlberg is currently working on the remake of The Gambler, directed by Ruper Wyatt.

 

Kevin Smith’s Thriller “Tusk” Casting Call for Asian Adult Extras in Wilmington, North Carolina

Casting directors are now casting talent for Kevin Smith’s“Tusk” the horror film based on a Walrus currently filming in North Carolina.

Kevin Smith has revealed that he is planning to make a horror movie based on an advertisement featured in a newspaper.

Tusk, which will reportedly go into production in September, is inspired by an online ad offering free rent to anyone who dressed up as a walrus for two hours a day. The man had befriended a walrus called Gregory while living in Alaska and created a “realistic walrus costume” which should fit “people of average proportions”. The advertisement, which was pulled down after going viral, inspired Red State director Kevin Smith to write a Human Centipede-style horror movie.

“The listing was written eloquently and briefly mentioned that the writer had once been lost at sea, with a walrus he nicknamed Gregory as his only companion,” Smith wrote on his Facebook page.

“The listing got my creative juices flowing and I began reconstructing the whole thing as an old British Hammer horror film, in which a mad scientist intends to sew some hapless lodger into counterfeit blubber, creating a chimera in an effort to answer the ultimate riddle.”

Smith began developing the script for Tusk with his producer Scott Mosier, after the pair mentioned it in their podcast in June.

Quentin Tarantino, Justin Long and Michael Parks – the star of Smith’s Red State – are being lined up for roles in Tusk.
