Producers for an upcoming commercial are seeking talent to work on the production filming in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Georgia Dominates Louisiana in the Television Industry

Georgia earned $1 Billion in 2013 and the number of productions continue to grow!

It is hard to deny the growing presence of film cameras, elite television producers, and A list actors walking down Peachtree Street. Over the last 4 years, the growing television industry has boomed in Georgia. With the tax benefits, a major airport hub, and lax regulations, Georgia has become the go-to place for filmmakers. The Hollywood Reporter, examined the benefits of filming in Georgia and it is hard to deny that Georgia is becoming a home for producers, actors, and filmmakers.

Since 2010, 11 studios have opened, expanded or announced plans to operate in Georgia, including Pinewood, which established its first presence outside the U.K. It joins Tyler Perry‘s studio, Raleigh and others. Tax rebates as high as 30 percent helped lure 76 series, specials and TV movies in 2012, the most recent year for which detailed figures are available. AMC’s The Walking Dead, Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva and BET’s original series now call Georgia home. Only California hosted more TV in 2012 with 215 projects, though it has lost most of the lucrative hour long dramas that shoot (and spend) nine months a year [THR].

Even though, Louisiana is still a major hub for the movie industry, Georgia is still growing. The number of investors has spiked over the last few years. Pinewood Studios has recently opened their doors and Marvel has decided to film their next major motion picture, ANT-MAN in the newly built studio. Even, Tyler Perry purchased several hundred acres to expand to an even larger studio.

But, one benefit that seems to draw a lot of filmmakers is the number of highly trained employees.

“Some states have an A and a B crew base, and after that you are in trouble,” he says. “Georgia has real depth to its crew base.” That’s in part because the state has benefited from the presence of Turner Entertainment in Atlanta, where generations of camera operators, editors, set designers and others have trained. “Georgia actually has had more people employed in the industry sector permanently in production than even Louisiana,” says Klowden [THR].

Georgia has become a place for filmmakers to call home. It has only been 4 years and the number of productions filming in Georgia have nearly doubled.

FOX “Sleepy Hollow” Season 2 Production is Heating Up in Wilmington

The FOX hit television series “Sleepy Hollow” is getting ready for their second season.

The production offices at EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington have re-opened their doors and according to WRAL.com, filming is to start again on May 6th.

The supernatural show, which first aired their season finale in January, centers on a resurrected Icahbod Crane as he attempts to save mankind from the end of the world and the deadly Headless Horseman.

Executive producer Mark Goffman commented on season two. “It’s a season about war, it’s a season about redemption. What do you do when your son becomes the Horseman of War in the apocalypse? Ichabod is going to have to contemplate assuming he gets out of the pine box he’s in. [THR]”

Producers hinted that there will be new villains coming in to Sleepy Hollow for Ichabod and Co. to worry about. Though they were coy, they shared some details as to who will be joining the war. “War doesn’t work by itself,” co-creator/executive producer Roberto Orci teased. “There are a lot of amazing foot soldiers coming, familiar and also original.”

Magic Mike 2 to Start Filming this Fall

The sequel to the wildly successful 2012 male stripper movie is back and filming is set to begin this Fall.

Filming is set to begin without an announcement of a new director or if a script has been completed. But, in an interview with Collider, Manganiello revealed that news about the proejct is coming soon, and he’s ready to follow up on the “most fun” that he has ever had.

“Yeah, it’s gonna happen this fall. I think they’re going to announce it soon. It’s crazy. I didn’t think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career. But that said, it’s just proof that I don’t know best, all the time. It was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys.” (Via Collider)

Collider also pointed out that it is rumored that Channing Tatum is expected to direct this project with his associate Reid Carolin with the help of Steven Soderbergh.

“Broadway 4D” Casting Call in New York City

The “Broadway 4D” project is in production in New York City and  the project is described as an “immersive” film experience that centers on the history of Broadway musicals.

The Times Square Theater on West 42nd Street in the Broadway theatre district is being renovated for the project and will house the production when it opens, hopefully later this year.
