Hasbro’s ‘My Little Pony’ Movie is Coming Soon

Hasbro Studios is creating a ‘My Little Pony’ movie to the big screen in 2017.

Thanks to the wildly successful Transformers franchise, the GI Joe TV series, Hollywood is extremely interested turning toys in feature films. Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison bought the production rights to Candy Land. 

In an attempt to follow in Marvel Studio’s footsteps, Hasbro Studios is creating its own studio called Allspark Pictures, so it could find other ways to profit from the toys kids love.

“We will continue to make big tentpole movies with our studio partners,” says [Hasbro Studios president] Davis of franchises like “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe,” at Paramount, and “Monopoly” and “Candy Land” at Sony, “but there is another set of movies where we feel we have an opportunity to have a bit more control over the budgeting, financing, calendarization, marketing and creative of our films. There are new economic models that fit certain films.” (Via Variety)

The new production company will self-finance their own movies or join forces with other companies to produce feature films.

My Little Pony feature characters with colorful bodies, manes and “cutie marks” on their sides. The franchise launched four animated series and has had strong sales in the 1980s and then once again in 2010 after growing in popularity. The resurgence in popularity may be due to the growing trend of “bronies”, adult fans of “My Little Pony” which is surprising and yet a little terrifying.

The new My Little Pony movie will be released in 2017.

Producers Will Sue Actress for Refusing to Film a Nude Sex Scene

Producers will soon sue actress for $85,000 for refusing to film a nude sex scene.

The production company behind Cinemax’s Femme Fatales has been allowed by a California judge to go forward with its countersuit against Anne Greene. Anne Greene was an actress who violated her “Nudity Rider” of her contract by refusing to film a nude sex scene.Femme-Fatales-cinemax-Season-2-2012-poster

Greene has worked on several feature films including Saw 3D: The Final Chapter, alleged that Time Warner, HBO, Cinemax and the production company behind True Crime bullied, sexually harassed and placed her in a dangerous work environment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, here is producers’  side of the story:

…the actress “arrived on set, reported to wardrobe on time, but then abruptly refused to report to the set, expressing for the first time, contrary to the express terms of the Employment Agreement and Nudity Rider, that she was not comfortable performing the scene topless or allowing herself to be filmed topless.”

There was a scene where Greene would have to give oral sex and she said that she was not up to doing such a scene. The scene was rewritten for her to simulate sex. She said she would have no problem doing the scene as long as her nipples do not show.

A True Crime rep spoke to her at length in private and asked whether anything could be done to resolve her concerns. Greene allegedly explained that she would have no problem with the scene if she didn’t have to expose her nipples. And so they spoke to wardrobe to see if the actress could be fitted with coverings known as “pasties” to obscure her nipples.

“The True Crime representative knew the ‘Pasties’ would show on film and therefore require True Crime to hire a body double and spend substantial time editing (both at significant unbudgeted expense) just to get the frontal partially nude shots called for in the scene, and would not be compliant with HBO’s policy prohibiting the use of ‘Pasties’ in sex scenes,” say the legal papers. “Nevertheless, the True Crime representative agreed to accommodate Greene’s wishes in order to mitigate and minimize True Crime’s losses.”

Producers allowed for the scene to happen with pasties but, they were pretty upset. True Crime blames Greene for causing “substantial delay and disruption” that caused the company to pay for several actors, filming locations, and script re-writes.

Producers argue that they did the right thing by telling her what to expect and not trying to coerce her, and even trying to make accommodations to her. But, since Greene signed a contract for nude scenes she is liable for breaching contract.

L.A. Superior Court Judge has found that True Crime has “provided ample evidence that it will prevail,” specifically pointing towards the videos and scripts the actress got when auditioning for the role.

This will make for a crazy trial.

Can’t Get Enough American Horror Story? Creators Creating New Horror-Comedy

Even though Glee is coming to an end, producers are excited to create a new series.

Brad Falchuk & Ryan Murphy have created a new horror series titled Scream Queens.

The network has already ordered 15 episodes that will premiere Fall 2015.

The premise of the show revolves around a group of murders that are consistently on a college campus.

Murphy said: “I knew I wanted to work with Brad and Ian again on something comedic, and we are having a blast writing Scream Queens, We hope to create a whole new genre — comedy-horror — and the idea is for every season to revolve around two female leads. We’ve already begun a nationwide search for those women, as well as 10 other supporting roles, and we’re very grateful to [Fox TV Group chairmen and CEOs] Dana [Walden] and Gary [Newman] for their enthusiastic support.”

Walden & Newman said: “One of our top priorities at the network has been to get Ryan Murphy to create a new series for Fox. We loved every element of the pitch for this show — the genre-bending concept, which blends true horror with big comedic moments; the diverse and unforgettable characters and reuniting the phenomenal creative team that delivered Glee. Scream Queens will go straight to series. It’s a huge commitment and an expression of our faith in Ryan. We are ecstatic to have him, along with Brad, Ian and Dante as our partners on this exciting ride.”

Murphy and Falchuk will have three series on air.

‘X-Men Apocalypse’ is Now Casting Three Lead Roles

The new X-Men sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse is now casting three lead roles

Details surrounding the new X-Men movie have been extremely vague. A recent report has claimed that new movie will not be called “X-Men: Apocalypse” but something entirely different although still relating to the villain.Last year, Bryan Singer tweeted about the new movie to fans and many assumed the sequel would be entitled “X-Men: Apocalypse” just because of the tweet.

But, according to recent reports, “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be titled “X-Men: Akkaba” and casting directors are casting three lead roles in the sequel. Casting directors are now looking for three 18 year old teenagers to play 16 years old. According to Moviepilot, casting directors are looking for teenagers to play the younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Gray and Storm.

According to websites, Akkaba refers to a clan of supporters who worship Apocalypse. These worshipers include the villains Death and the Four Housemen. However, no new additional details have been revealed.

Tom Hardy, most known for playing Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises”,  is also expected to join the cast and crew of the new X-Men sequel. Tom Hardy is reported to play the villain mutant.

Official announcements have not been released regarding casting decisions, casting calls, and other news about the “X-Men” sequel. Stay tuned for more updates on the new X-Men movie.

New Ebola TV Series is Coming Soon to Fox

Producers Planning on Creating a Ebola TV series

As the Ebola virus is killing hundreds of people across Africa and infecting nurses throughout the United Sates, producers are planning on bringing the deadly illness to a TV near you.

Hollywood producers Lynda Obst and director-producer Ridley Scott are creating a mini-series that is based on Richard Preston’s 1994 non-fictionbest seller The Hot Zone.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers have been working on this TV series for the past 20 years but, since the virus has spread into the United States, producers believe the timing is perfect to release the TV series.

For the past year, the pair quietly has been working on the property, which they optioned two decades ago and never let lapse, hiring Jeff Vintar (I, Robot) to adapt. But the project became incredibly timely a few months ago when the current outbreak — the deadliest manifestation of the disease to date — began to emerge in West Africa. Ebola has ravaged several countries in Africa, killing some 4,400, and has since spread to the United States, claiming one victim in Texas.

…

“I think it’s the speed with which it kills that makes the disease so frightening,” Obst tells The Hollywood Reporter. “People hoped it would stay in some remote part of the world. But that’s a fantasy in the modern world. The modern world makes us one big connected family.”

Currently, two nurses who cared for the Texas patient who had the Ebola virus, are currently seeking treatment. Details have been revealed that one of the nurses flew from Cleveland to Dallas the day before testing positive for Ebola. In addition, one of the nurses may have had Ebola symptoms while trying on wedding gowns.

Richard Preston is currently writing an article for the New Yorker discussing the current outbreak. Producers Obst and Scott are planning on using Preston’s latest article and turning it into a TV series. The article is expected to cover the history of the disease, including an incident in which primates at a quarantine facility in became infected with a mutated version of Ebola.

Abel’s Faith Short Film Casting Call for Extras in Florida

Casting directors are now casting extras for the upcoming short film, Abel’s Faith.

PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION:
About Abel’s Faith: Two mafias came together. Unified by the marriage of the daughter of a Brazilian Godfather, and the son and heir of a Mexican Mafia. Over the past two decades, the couple has grown this dangerous merger, dominating illegal trade and services in Brazil, U.S., and Mexico.
When their son’s disobey the father’s orders, they are stripped of authority and punished to work as entry level street runners until they can recoup their father’s losses. They begin by forcing women into prostitution.
Twenty-one year old Abel Carsten, a top-tier sales rep hired straight out of grad-school, meets one such woman. Her name is Reena Grenadine. Something about Reena tugs at Abel’s heart. When he chooses to help her, it means confronting the sons of one of the most powerful Godfathers in the world. Her life is in his hands. Will he save his life by losing hers, or will he give his life to save them both.

SCENE INFO
We will be filming the ending scenes of Abel’s Faith. These take place at “Abel’s church”. Our viewers are unsure if Abel and Reena are alive or dead at the start of this scene. As the congregation, you will be dressed and, at first, acting as though you might be at a funeral.

ARRANGEMENTS
The scenes showing the congregation are scheduled to take place at the beginning of filming. Allowing the congregation to go home early. Directly after the congregation scenes have been shot, lunch will be served for everyone in attendance.

This is a religious film, but you do not have to be religious to attain a role.
None of the congregation will have lines in the film. Though some if not a majority of your faces may end up in the final cut of the film.

IMPORTANT NOTES & REQUIREMENTS
• Wardrobe: you will need to arrive at church on 10/10/14 dressed in formal clothing. Dark colors and blacks only for the ‘funeral vibe’.
• We are looking for AT LEAST FIVE “Principal Extras” to stay during the entire shoot. You will be seated around our lead actors, and your faces will most likely be be very plainly displayed in the final film. If you are interested, please mention that you would like to be a “Principal Extra” in your contact email.
• Children are allowed, but they must be seated next to their parents and dressed accordingly.
• Thank You: As a thank you, all participants are welcome to sign their names and contact info to receive digital or DVD copies of the final film!
