Job Description: STARZ, in collaboration with NALIP and NFMLA, is seeking emerging TV writers from underrepresented backgrounds to participate in the third season of the STARZ #TakeTheLead Writers’ Intensive. This program aims to support aspiring writers who want to make their mark in the world of premium cable television. Selected fellows will receive mentorship and guidance from industry professionals, helping them develop their TV writing skills and create compelling spec scripts and episode treatments.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate in the STARZ #TakeTheLead Writers’ Intensive program, working closely with mentors, executives, and established writers.
• Develop a spec script and an episode treatment under the guidance of industry professionals.
• Engage in workshops and networking opportunities that will further hone your understanding of TV writing.
• Collaborate with other fellows and program mentors to receive constructive feedback and improve your storytelling craft.

Requirements:

• Must be an emerging TV writer from an underrepresented background.
• Demonstrated passion for writing and storytelling in the TV industry.
• A desire to work in premium cable television.
• Willingness to participate fully in the intensive program and complete the assigned writing tasks.

Compensation:

• Each fellow will receive a $5,000 grant to support their participation in the program.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Content Creator, Copywriter, or similar role with a portfolio of published articles or produced media.

• Strong writing and editing skills, with attention to detail.

• Good knowledge of content management systems like WordPress.

• Proficiency in social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter.

• Basic knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics.

• Ability to deliver creative content (text, image, and video).

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with an ability to stay self-motivated and manage multiple projects.

SEEKING COLLABORATORS AND CONTENT – FUNDING AVAILABLE
Misery Loves Co., a production company, is currently seeking to increase its output by offering full or partial funding for original, short-form, stand-alone content suitable for YouTube, IG, TickTock, etc. as well as festival recognition.
As a published writer and actor with well-over 100 IMDB credits, I am also seeking to collaborate on such content where possible.
All accepted projects will be promoted by a social media manager.
Ideally, content should be provocative/timely/humorous.
However, open to work of any tone that has the potential to go viral or be festival-worthy.
Will consider any genre: narrative, reality, documentary, animation, etc.
.All proposals for funding only must be ready-to-shoot, with a
– completed script
– detailed budget of $5K or less (preference will be given to lower budgets)
– crew/equipment in place (once funding is provided)
