Casting Call: Utility II – Technical Operations
Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Utility II to assist our Technical Operations team in setting up, executing, and tearing down for live remote TV broadcasts. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth operations during the event, including handling broadcast equipment, assisting with camera operations, and supporting lighting and scenic departments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the setup, execution, and teardown of remote TV broadcasts.
- Unload and load medium to heavy cases off broadcast trucks.
- Layout, pickup, and manage broadcast cabling, ensuring it is properly coiled and maintained.
- Support camera operators by pulling and coiling cables, carrying camera batteries, and assisting with other related tasks.
- Aid in setting up scenic and lighting departments, including climbing ladders and working overhead on scaffolding and rooftops.
- Ensure all tasks are performed safely and efficiently, following all operational protocols.
Requirements:
- Must live within 100 miles of the event site.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- A minimum of 7 shows worked as a regional-level utility in live remote productions is required.
- Must have operational familiarity with TV equipment, including cameras, cables, and monitors.
- Must be skilled at over/under wrapping of cables and maintaining tidy cable coils.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Firsthand knowledge of venue production areas is highly desirable.
