ESPN is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Parabolic Microphone Operator for the Cal Poly vs UC Santa Barbara game at Harder Stadium. The individual in this role will be responsible for capturing real-time field sounds using a parabolic microphone dish, contributing to the broadcast’s high-quality audio experience. The operator will follow the action on the field, moving along the sideline or endline to capture the sounds effectively.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate a wired parabolic microphone dish to capture on-field sounds throughout the game.
- Move along the sideline or endline as needed, following the action to ensure optimal sound capture.
- Ensure clear and consistent sound quality in collaboration with the broadcast team.
- Remain active and alert, staying on your feet for the entire duration of the event.
- Work outdoors, potentially in varying weather conditions, maintaining focus and performance.
- Adhere to all instructions regarding setup, microphone positioning, and field placement during the game.
Requirements:
- Basic understanding of the sport being covered (preferably soccer knowledge).
- Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, and moving for long periods.
- Ability to handle outdoor working conditions, including exposure to weather.
- Experience with audio equipment is preferred, though not required (training will be provided if necessary).
- Strong attention to detail and focus to ensure optimal sound capture at all times.
