ATTENTION NON-UNION MUSICAL THEATER ACTORS, 18-35 for newest NYC project!
I will be casting the fall TYA musicals for the 92NY Musical Theater program, which will be presented this fall at a venue on the upper west side.
PLEASE read the entire audition post carefully; note the character descriptions as well as the rehearsal and performance dates for each production.
Seeking ACTORS who are STRONG SINGERS/Good Movers (unless, otherwise noted) for the following roles:
NOTE: All roles are open to any gender, as well as all racial and ethnic groups.
PAY: Stipend- $400
 
RED RIDING HOOD
GRANNY – Highly spirited ex-showgirl with a full singing/dancing dream sequence. Should be a proficient tap dancer and brassy belter.
ENSEMBLE-u/s RED RIDING HOOD – Strong contemporary dancer with mezzo soprano up to a C.
This is a short rehearsal process so it’s important that this performer is able to learn their own track, as well as the lead part.

DOROTHY’S ADVENTURES IN OZ
WIZARD – Strong mover with presence. When dressed as the wizard, actor should be a booming presence but when out from behind the curtain, should be very forgivable.
MAYOR OF MUNCHKIN LAND/DOORMAN – Both the Mayor and Doorman are quirky and confused. Breaks the 4th wall often to address the audience. Should have great comedic timing.

MAGNIFICENT MILLIE
MILLIE – Adult to play 9 years old. Millie often gets carried away with all her stories and dreams, which causes disturbances at home and school. She’s learning to control her wild imagination and use it to help others. Proficient singer with a belt.
MELINDA – Adult to play 13 years old. Melinda is an overachiever with perfect attendance in every club at school. She loves her sister, Millie, but wishes she’d be more organized. Proficient singer with a belt.
FAIRY – Fairy is here to show Millie how to grow from Messy to Magnificent… if only she could find her watch. Fairy means well, but is very disorganized. Proficient singer with a belt.
CHARLOTTE – Adult to play 9 years old. Charlotte is very sweet, a true introvert. While Millie is learning to wait her turn, Charlotte is learning to speak up.
MOM/MS WILKINS – Mom is super smart, but lacks the creativity Millie possesses. While she is in awe of her daughter’s imagination, she struggles to keep Millie on track. Ms Wilkins is not a confident teacher so when Millie takes over the class, she has a hard time bringing everyone back.
DAD/BUS DRIVER – Like Mom, Dad is entertained by Millie’s creativity but can’t relate to her. Bus Driver is just trying to get the kids to school on time.

First round of auditions will be a self tape; 16 bars of a musical theater song that shows off your range and personality. If you have a dance reel, please include that in your submission as well, especially for the roles needing a strong dancer. Download your tape via Vimeo or You-tube; you can use the “unlisted” option that doesn’t need a password.

Job Description
A dynamic ensemble theatre production is seeking bold, versatile actors for an emotionally charged and physically demanding play centered around a women’s soccer team. Set in Scotland, the play explores themes of resilience, identity, addiction, and community through the lives of five powerful characters. Actors will portray multiple roles, requiring strong vocal and physical range, comfort with dialects, and experience with fast-paced scene work. Soccer experience is highly encouraged.

  • Lorraine: Goalie. Calm, poised, recovering from a painful divorce

  • Sammy: Forward. Single mother, emotionally fragile but fiercely driven

Job Description
Pendragon Theatre seeks talented actors for the world premiere of This is Government, a quirky political comedy with heart. The production will rehearse in Saranac Lake, NY before transferring to an Off-Broadway run at 59E59 Theaters in NYC.

Casting for ‘Finding Freedom: The Journey of Robert Smalls’ Touring Production

A powerful and emotionally resonant theatrical adaptation of Finding Freedom: The Journey of Robert Smalls is seeking non-union performers for a TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) tour. This ensemble-driven production reimagines the heroic true story of Robert Smalls, who escaped slavery, led a Confederate ship to freedom, served in the Civil War, and later became a U.S. Congressman. Produced by the Charleston Gaillard Center and adapted by JaMeeka D. Holloway, the tour will explore themes of bravery, justice, and resilience for a national audience.

A replacement actor is urgently needed for the role of Falstaff in an ongoing stage production of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part 1. This classical outdoor theatre performance is already in rehearsal and features free shows across Long Island throughout late July and August.
