Metropolitan area, seeks a responsible, team-oriented, and driven part-time Gallery Assistant to work in our Rockville MD gallery. This part-time role entails auction support as well as duties behind the scenes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious person who has an appetite to learn in a fast paced, arts focused environment. Weekday shifts only (20hr maximum/week).Â
Responsibilities
•        Preparing and styling the gallery for auctions
•        Assisting with pickups, previews, and events
•        Unpacking, packing, and conducting inventory of property
•        Participating in fundamental tasks during auctions
•        Answer general questions
•        Assist in preventing theft by following security procedures
•        Janitorial duties (i.e.. sweeping, trash & recycling)
Qualifications
•        Bachelor degree preferred
•        Excellent customer services skills and desire to work with the public.
•        Enthusiastic and calm under pressure, with a commonsense approach.
•        Committed, reliable and capable of working well as part of a team.
•        Fluency in English necessary.
•        Ability and willingness to be flexible with working hours.
•        Must be able to lift 35 to 50 lbs. and climb a ladder
•        Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Weschler’s, the top auction house for antiques & fine art in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, seeks a Gallery Assistant for their online auctions. We are seeking a personable, detail-oriented individual who has the knowledge and skills to further the growth of all departments.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to work with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Photograph and process photos for weekly Metro auctions; knowledge of Lightroom and/or Photoshop required
- Assist with other Metro (weekly) auction duties (ie. exhibitions, receiving property, lotting, unpacking boxes, etc.)
- Participate in Telephone Bidding, Internet Bidding, and Clerking during quarterly auctions
- Work with the front office to move sold and unsold property to specified areas while maintaining artwork and objects safety.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
Qualifications:
- Computer proficiency, attention to detail, aesthetic sense, can-do attitude, ability to juggle multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines, and work collaboratively as a team member a must.
- Proficiency & knowledge of Lightroom and/or Photoshop required, Microsoft Office, RFC Auction Database knowledge a plus
Salary commensurate with experience.
This is an entry-level position.
