The production is seeking someone who is real, sassy, and relatable, with the ability to sing on camera (professional experience not required). Filming will take place in your home environment, with remote creative direction and technical support provided.

Casting Call: Short Film “Candy or Movie”
Job Description: We are currently casting for a short film set in 1970s China. The story revolves around a young girl who faces a moral dilemma after finding some money: should she use it to indulge in sweets or buy a ticket to watch her favorite movie? Or should she follow her mother’s teachings and return the money to its rightful owner? This film will be shot under the SAG-AFTRA Short Film Agreement and is accepting both union and non-union submissions. Actors must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese due to the film’s setting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accurately portray the character’s emotions and decision-making process in a culturally authentic setting.
- Follow the director’s vision to bring depth and life to the character.
- Participate in the assigned filming schedule.
Roles:
- Chinese Girl (Lead Role)
A curious and lively girl, age 6-12, who enjoys watching movies and eating candy. The role centers on her decision-making after finding the money.
Responsibilities:- Deliver a convincing performance as a thoughtful and inquisitive child.
- Lead the storyline with emotional authenticity.
Requirements: - Age: 6-12 years old.
- Must speak fluent Mandarin Chinese.
- Chinese Woman (Supporting Role)
A woman, age 21-40, who works at the movie theater’s ticket booth. Being a mother herself, she gently guides the young girl, helping her navigate her moral dilemma by offering advice and support.
Responsibilities:- Provide support to the main character with subtle emotional guidance.
- Act as a source of wisdom and moral influence in the storyline.
Requirements: - Age: 21-40 years old.
- Must speak fluent Mandarin Chinese.
Compensation Details:
- Rate: $18.75 per hour (approx. 6-8 hours per day).
- Union and non-union actors welcome.
Casting Call: Seeking Mandarin Speaking Actor for Student Film
Job Details:
This student film, operating under the SAG-AFTRA Micro Budget Agreement, is seeking a talented individual to play the role of Jin, a college student with a deep fascination for ceramics who struggles to connect with his art due to the impersonal nature of his AI instructor. This is a last-minute replacement casting call, so prompt submissions are encouraged.
Job Responsibilities:

Portray the character of Jin, bringing to life his despondence and rebellion against the artificial instructor in a compelling manner.

Work closely with the director and crew to achieve the vision of the film.

Participate in all scheduled filming days and any required rehearsals.

Contribute to promotional activities as reasonably requested by the production team.
Requirements:

Compensation Details:

Talent will be compensated at $250 per day for three days of filming.

For talent traveling from outside of Michigan, the production offers a $60 per-diem on travel days (March 13 and March 17).

Flight, transportation, and lodging for the duration of the production will be provided and covered for non-local talent.
