Casting Call: Artist Residency Program at Vox Populi, Philadelphia

Open Call Description: Vox Populi, a dynamic art space located in Philadelphia, is excited to announce an open call for artists living within a 50-mile radius of Philadelphia. We are seeking two talented artists to participate in a month-long residency program. This program is an excellent opportunity for artists to develop their work and gain exposure through a group show in our esteemed gallery space.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Active Participation in Residency: Engage fully in the four-week residency program, utilizing the time to explore and develop artistic work.
2. Development of Artwork: Produce new or refine existing artwork for the fall group exhibition.
3. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with another artist-in-residence and Vox Populi staff to prepare for the group exhibition.
4. Exhibition Preparation: Assist in the setup and takedown of the exhibition, including attending planning meetings as necessary.
5. Community Engagement: Participate in community events or discussions as part of the residency, including potential artist talks or workshops.

Requirements:

1. Residency Eligibility: Applicants must reside within a 50-mile radius of Philadelphia.
2. Artistic Experience: Demonstrable experience in creating and exhibiting artwork. A portfolio may be requested for review.
3. Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the residency and exhibition dates.
4. Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work collaboratively with other artists and staff.

Compensation: Each selected artist will receive:

1. Stipend: A stipend of $750.00 for the duration of the residency.
2. Housing: Accommodation will be provided for artists not based in Philadelphia.
3. Exhibition Opportunity: Inclusion in a group exhibition at Vox Populi’s gallery space.
4. Professional Exposure: An opportunity to network with other artists, art professionals, and the public.
