A short film casting call is now open for the proof-of-concept project PhoneCall with the Devil. Casting directors are seeking a strong male actor to portray Mr. Graves, also known as The Frenchman, a complex character with dual identities.

This dark, dialogue-driven short film will shoot in Sacramento and offers a stipend for selected talent. The role calls for a commanding performer who can shift seamlessly between two distinct personas—one polished and authoritative, the other seductive and dangerously manipulative. Job Responsibilities

• Portray Mr. Graves and his alter ego, The Frenchman

• Deliver intense, dialogue-heavy scenes with emotional control

• Differentiate two distinct characters without caricature

• Perform with subtlety, restraint, and vocal command

• Participate in scheduled shoot dates (2 of 3 planned days)

Requirements

• Male, ages 35–50

• African American

• Strong acting range with ability to portray dual identities

• American “Transatlantic” accent for Graves

• French-influenced English accent for The Frenchman (coaching may be provided)

• Available to work in Sacramento

• Comfortable with dark, psychological themes

Lead Role: Jimmy “The Claw” Walker

Role Description
Jimmy is a young bluesman whose trusting nature leads him into a disastrous deal with a dark force. Haunted by guilt and fear, he evolves into a determined and defiant man fighting to reclaim his future.

Role Responsibilities

• Portray a full emotional arc from vulnerability to strength

• Perform dramatic and character-driven scenes

• Convey internal conflict, desperation, and resolve

• Musical ability (guitar and/or vocals) is a plus
