Instructor of Voice and Director of Vocal Music (Year-Round)

Interlochen Center for the Arts seeks applicants for the position of Instructor of Voice and Director of Voice Studies. The successful candidate will provide individual studio instruction to Arts Academy (IAA) and Arts Camp (IAC) voice students and work alongside the Director of Music to successfully administer the IAA and IAC voice programs. Administrative duties include working collaboratively with music and theater voice faculty to focus on creating and curating a strong curriculum that keeps healthy singing at the forefront.

Interlochen voice students study in classical and contemporary programs including Classical Voice, Musical Theatre Voice, Singer-Songwriter, Jazz, and Popular Performance. The Director of Vocal Music will manage studio assignments, faculty teaching assignments, and guest artist curation for both IAA and IAC, while working with the Associate Director of Music for Camp to hire voice area faculty for IAC (studio voice, opera, choir).

Beyond the traditional classroom responsibilities, all faculty at IAA assist in providing student mentorship and advising for aspiring artists in a boarding school setting. The Interlochen 5, key capacities that IAA faculty help reinforce, include mindfulness, wellness and resilience, creative capacity, interdisciplinary perspective and collaboration, global and cultural perspective, and community and citizen artistry. All Academy faculty focus on educating the whole student, working with high school students to develop their artistry and their citizenship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a private studio of voice majors at IAA
  • Teaches classes in all areas and genres of voice
  • Primary administrator of the Classical and Contemporary Voice area, with significant collaboration with Musical Theatre Voice faculty
  • Oversees voice curriculum and instruction in Singer-Songwriter, Jazz, and Popular Performance
  • Work with the Associate Director of Music for Classical Programs, Associate Director of Music for Contemporary Music, and Director of Theatre to manage private and group voice lesson assignments and allocations.
  • Curates shared curricular experiences for all students studying voice
  • Oversees voice faculty evaluation and hiring for Academy and Camp
  • Works closely with admissions to support institutional goals and needs
  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Complies with ICA policies/procedures and acts as a good steward of ICA finances
  • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all students, their families and the community
  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Education with a Voice emphasis or Voice Performance required, Masters Degree or DMA/PhD in Voice and/or Music Education (voice emphasis) is preferred.

Experience: Significant teaching and coaching experience is required. 3-5 years of successful coordination or leadership of a voice program on the high school or college level is preferred.

Equipment Familiarity: Use of basic recording technology, Google Office Suite

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of ICA’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with and ability to teach all genres of voice.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Casting Call: Music Video Models

Job Description: We are seeking two dynamic models to participate in an upcoming music video shoot. The models will be required to work closely with the director and production team to bring the creative vision to life. The video shoot will involve various scenes and setups, requiring the models to adapt to different settings and styles.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the director and production team to fulfill the creative direction of the music video.

Casting Call: Spoken Word Artists/Poets/Storytellers

Job Description:

Trigger Casting is currently seeking three talented spoken word artists, poets, or storytellers for an exciting new project scheduled for April. We are looking for individuals in their 30s to 50s, both female and male, who possess a passion for storytelling and the ability to captivate an audience with their words and presence. This opportunity requires talent that can not only perform their own material but can also effectively read scripted material, memorize lines, and engage in conversational speaking. The project will be filmed over three days in Chicago.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform spoken word, poetry, or storytelling as required by the project’s needs.

  • Portraying teenage boys hanging out, riding bikes, and engaging in slightly mischievous activities.

Casting Call: Mandarin Chinese Speaking Voice Over Talents for Video Game

Job Details: We are currently seeking talented Mandarin Chinese-speaking Voice Over (VO) artists for an upcoming non-union video game production. This exciting opportunity is open to both male and female sounding talents who can portray characters across a wide age range from 12 to 80 years old. The project will be produced in New York, but we are open to national applicants who have the capability to record from a professional home studio setup.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• In this role, you support the production of media related to events and formats within the Music Network, helping to ideate and execute compelling content that has national and global impact. You will work closely with the entire Music Network team to improve the quality of ideas from an editorial to a production perspective, ultimately benefiting the client’s business and brand.

St. Gilbert Church and School is a large, vibrant and welcoming Catholic community serving hundreds of households in the quaint, historic village of Grayslake, Illinois, located about 40 miles north of central Chicago. We are searching for an enthusiastic person of faith to become our parish Director of Music Ministry.  

The Coordinator will responsibly and effectively plan, coordinate and lead parish liturgical music with a vision for providing high quality music that encourages the full participation and engagement of our worshipers. The Church has a newer organ, a grand piano, keyboards, percussion and up to date sound equipment for the use of the Music Ministry.  

Job Description 

• Plan and lead, or oversee, liturgical music for Saturday 5 PM, Sunday 7:30, 9, and 11 AM Masses; also the Wednesday 8 AM Mass with St. Gilbert School students 

• Provide music, accompanists and vocalists for weddings, funerals, and other special liturgies in the Church and Chapel, as needed  

• Select music from current hymnals (Gather and Spirit & Song), updating and developing worship aids when needed 

• Prepare and distribute copies of music and a song list for musicians and vocalists each week; coordinate schedules for all participants  

• Plan and conduct weekly adult choir rehearsal, children’s choir and pre-Mass practice sessions  

• Recruit, develop and direct vocalist and instrumentalist volunteers of all ages, motivating them to grow and continue serving

Job Requirements:  

• Strong keyboard skills required (ideally plays both piano and organ), vocal skills required; ability to play and sing at Mass independently when necessary (and also accompany); other instrument skills a plus  

• Bachelor’s degree in music is preferred, but consideration given for equivalent experience 

• Ability to select appropriate music for each liturgy and liturgical season, drawing from traditional and contemporary styles, choosing songs the congregation can readily sing 

• Effectively teach new music in both group and individual settings, discerning and setting a standard for participant readiness so that music performed has appropriate quality 

• Computer/tech/music skills: ability to manage email/text & group lists, operate sound system, transpose and print music, and develop lead sheets; music composition a plus
