Master and Slave is the weirdest, strangest and probably harshest acting class you’ve never heard of.
Acting classes are different. They don’t have the typical structure of a high school Algebra class but, often have the loose rules of a Kindergarten music class. And a recent report by Vice News clearly explains the differences.
In a report that examines what it’s like to take acting classes at an elite British acting school shows how weird things can get inside an “acting class”. One of the weirdest acting class workshops is the “Master and the Slave”.
The acting class is supposed to be your typical improvisational class that starts about six months into your first year. And it’s exactly what you think it is. Actors are matched together where one actor is the master and the other actor is the slave. The “Slave” must do whatever the “master tells them.
For example:
This guy got asked by his master to get his dick out and whack it in my face, which he did very obligingly. So I got a dick slapped in my face. I was absolutely appalled.
It doesn’t stop there. Another acting student was told to masturbate on top of a piano in front of the entire class.
The craziest thing that happened with the master and slave thing was when one guy had to strip and stand on the piano and masturbate. But he was masturbating with his pants still on, through the material.
When asked if this acting class was beneficial the acting students responded by saying: “Eventually, you’re able to say, “Fuck it, I can move on from that,” as opposed to the crippling pain of feeling like a failure in front of your peers and teachers.”
