Why the Screenplay is the Most Important Part of a Movie [VIDEO]

Want to make a great movie? Hire a great screenwriter.

Who should get the most credit for a movie? Is it the actor in front of the screen? Is it the director behind the camera? Or the cinematographer who makes it all come to life? All of the above have a major impact however, in a video essay by Michael Tucker, Tucker explains that the most credit should go to the movie’s screenwriter.

In an interesting perspective and analysis of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, Tucker argues why a great screenwriter is often the most underestimated person in the making of a great movie. Tucker points out the little cues a great screenwriter would use when they write down the screenplay and how it helps the director and actor out when it comes down to filming the scenes. Tucker breaks it down in three steps.
