Will Smith bashes Donald Trump at a ‘Suicide Squad’ press event.
Will Smith openly discussed Donald Trump at a Suicide Squad press event. The actor said that America’s Islamophobia motivated him to attend the event in Dubai on Sunday. Smith argued that he had been tweeting and sharing pictures to fight Muslim stereotypes in the United States, according to reports.
“The Middle East can’t allow Fox News to be the arbiter of the imagery, you know,” the actor said. “So cinema is a huge way to be able to deliver the truth of the soul of a place to a global audience.”
Will Smith then discussed Donald Trump, Republican nominee for president.
“As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk, I think it’s good,” the 47-year-old said. “We get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country.”
This is not the first time Will Smith talked about Donald Trump. The actor called Trump’s treatment of women “absolute f- insanity” that he could get away with it. “For a man to be able to publicly refer to a woman as a fat pig, that makes me teary,” Smith said in an interview with Australian news websitenews.com.au.
Will Smith has been quite vocal lately about political and racial issues. Will Smith recently chatted with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” and said this about America’s problem with racism according to EurWeb. The award winning actor was on “The Tonight Show” last Thursday to promote his new film, Suicide Squad. During the interview, host Jimmy Fallon asked Smith for his thoughts on the Republican and Democratic National Conventions and on race relations.
“It’s interesting, I’ve been thinking about it and there’s really two extreme views of America right now,” Smith told Fallon when asked if he’d watched the political conventions over the past two weeks.
