Saturday Night Live has hit their highest ratings in six years this weekend with Alec Baldwin’s record-breaking President Trump impressions. Baldwin, who portrays President Trump on the show, hosted his 17th show on Saturday, which is more than any other host in the show’s history.
The episode received a 7.2 overnight rating, which is the highest rating since 2011, CNN reports. The ratings mean 7.2% of all homes watched the show on Saturday.
CNN pointed out that when Trump himself hosted the show as a presidential candidate in November 2015, the show got a 6.6 rating.
The show’s higher ratings come not only on the night of Baldwin’s historic hosting gig but also shows Saturday Night Live’s focus on political satire.
Actress Melissa McCarthy made another surprise appearance on Saturday as White House press secretary Sean Spicer, a week after her portrayal of the White House spokesman went viral. Baldwin also reprised his role as Trump to mock his battle with the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals over his immigration ban.
