As production for HBO’s Game of Thrones draws to a close, executives are considering where to take the show next. According to reports, HBO has officially started developing four different spinoffs.
The Hollywood Reporter explains “Each of the four projects will explore different time periods of Martin’s sprawling world of Westeros. It’s unclear where any of the four fall in the show’s universe — meaning they could be prequels, sequels or spinoffs.”
Currently, the writers from Kingsman: The Secret Service, The Leftovers, Kong: Skull Island and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master are all developing spinoffs for the Game of Thrones.
Meanwhile, the show’s current show runners are expected to only work as executive producers.
At this time there are no details of one potential spinoff will have its production, and the four spinoffs are only in the development stage at HBO. That said, it is important to note that HBO insisted that the current show runners of the Game of Thrones stretch of the series as long as possible, which makes this the next best thing.
Game of Thrones returns HBO fruits last season on July 16.
