Game of Thrones’ Sansa, Sophie Turner, was discovered in high school.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner landed the biggest acting job of her entire life at the age of 13 through her high school. The actress recently revealed that she gave the audition for the role in her school, after HBO posted a casting call for young and new talent.
Turner was speaking on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter’ podcast when she revealed that how she discovered through classes that initially served her as a form of daycare.
Turner, who started acting in local productions when she was just 3 years old, recalled how her drama teacher “just threw [her] in with a bunch of [her] other friends and [they] all auditioned together” over their lunch period.
The Game of Thrones leading lady turned out to be one of the seven actors chosen for a role in the Game of Thrones. After a few auditions, she ultimately won the part.
However, it wasn’t all peaches and cream after landing the role. Turner argued that her life did not change overnight since nobody was sure whether the show would gain in popularity or not. In fact, it wasn’t until the end of the third season that people actually started watching and talking about the HBO drama series.
Nowadays, Turner couldn’t probably go anywhere without someone recognizing her. Her character played a key role in Game of Thrones season 6 crucial episode, The Battle of the Bastards, thus, helping her half-brother Jon Snow become the King of the North. However, she thinks the final episodes of Game of Thrones are going to be intense. “I’m not sure Sansa believes Jon is capable of running Winterfell in the North,” Yahoo! News quoted the actress as saying. “He doesn’t have the intellect, the knowledge, the experience that she has.”
