Ratings: ‘Empire’ Midseason Finale Had 11.5 Million Viewers

Date:

Empire aired their midseason finale on Wednesday, but the show’s 11.5 million total viewers were not enough to beat CBS.

According to TheWrap, Rosewood only had 5 million viewers at 8 p.m., which decreased the network’s primetime network ratings. Combined, the two Fox dramas fell shy of CBS among total viewers, but Fox crushed all the competition.

Fox was first in ratings with 2.9 rating/9 share in the highly coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 8.3 million. Rosewood ratings were only 1.4/5 in the key demographic. Empire scored a 4.4/13 in the 9 o’clock ratings.

Ultimately, ratings for Empire’s fall finale were not enough to boost Fox’s total viewers past CBS.

Recently, Empire’s ratings have dropped in comparison to last years. Many people argue that too many gay storylines have caused audiences to change the channel. Others argue that the show’s storyline in season 2 has not made a lot of sense. Ultimately, reports of the show being “boring” or “sucks” are now commonplace on Twitter. However, Empire is still one of the most watched TV programs on TV and even with dwindling audience numbers, Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are changing the network TV industry.
