Bradley Cooper is working on a ISIS miniseries for HBO.
Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips will explore the rise of the terrorist group ISIS on HBO, according to TheWrap.
Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips are going to base the new TV series around the 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning book “Black Flags: The Rise of ISIS” by Joby Warrick. The book centered around ISIS and how they evolved into a group of international terrorists and the special agents hired to track and shut them down.
Cooper and Phillips will produce the project under their production company. This is not the first time Cooper and Phillips produced a production, they produced the upcoming feature film War Dogs which features Miles Teller and Jonah Hill as international arms dealers.
This news comes after a report revealed the United States government is working with Hollywood to defeat ISIS. According to Variety, executives shared ideas and plans on how to defeat ISIS through movies and TV shows with Secretary of State John Kerry earlier this year. From Variety:
The attendee described part of the gathering as a “brainstorming session,” including how to involve storytellers in regions afflicted or threatened by ISIS, as a way to counter the narratives promulgated by the terrorist organization. “Let’s figure out how to involve people who are there,” the attendee said.
The meeting was held at Universal Studios and lasted for an hour-and-a-half long.
