The Average Movie Ticket Price is Decreasing

Date:

The average cost to go to the movies is decreasing.

According to the National Association of Theater Owners, the average cost of a movie ticket has decreased by nearly 5 percent in the first 3 months of 2014 to an average of $7.96.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports that the decrease in ticket prices is due to the lack of 3D feature films.

It’s typical to see a drop-off in the average ticket price following the year end-holidays, when there is a proliferation of 3D titles driving up the number.

There was a slight increase in the average ticket price, or 0.3 percent, year over year. In the first quarter of 2013, the average cost of a trip to the cinema was $7.94.

The average ticket price for 2013 was $8.13.

I can still hear my dad telling me the cost of movies being a nickel when he was a kid. But, what do you think of the decrease in movie theater costs?
