How To Get a Twitter Verified Badge

Date:

Here’s how you can get a Twitter Verified Badge in 3 easy steps.

Twitter’s blue “verified” check was initially created to make it harder for trolls to impersonate famous people, but it essentially became a tool to distinguish famous people from non-famous people. However, Twitter is making it easier for men and women to get the beloved verified badge because, the social media network has opened up its once-mysterious verification process to everyone.

All you have to do is fill out this form and make sure your account has a verified phone number, bio, profile pic, birthday, website, and email.

Currently, less than 1 percent of all users are verified. In fact, Twitter has been manually verifying new accounts for the past few years, and while that number may skyrocket thanks to this new process, the company says the mark is still reserved for accounts “determined to be of public interest.” So have no fear, it’s very unlikely your uncle Bob with random retweets will get that coveted check mark.

However, it’s important to point out that getting “Verified” is just a simple ego rush. The only actual perk you get is the option to not see tweets from unverified accounts, which is pretty pointless given how arbitrary verification has been in the past (we are not verified) and fact notorious trolls are currently verified.

At the end of the day, lots of changes are going on over at Twitter. From shutting down ISIS accounts, to banning trolls, this new open verification process gives us glimmer hope for the a social network that is struggling to compete against Pokemon Go, Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram.

But, if you want to make our day, follow us on Twitter.
