The upcoming Sinister Six movie is set for release in 2016, and will focus villains instead of the superheros. But, in bigger news, Sony Pictures plans on creating a female character from the Spider-Man universe and give her a movie to be released in 2017.

After the villains emerge, get ready for the power of the women from the Spider-Man universe. Which characters they will develop is up for speculation, but we know that Lisa Joy (Westworld, Reminiscence) has been hired to script and that again Arad and Tolmach are producing. There are several strong possibilities — Silver Sable, Black Cat, Stunner, Firestar and Spider-Woman, to name a few.

According to Deadline, Lisa Joy (Burn Notice and Pushing Daisies) will write a script for a currently unknown female superhero action movie. Joy is currently the co-writer and executive producer of the Westworld series that is currently a TV pilot for HBO.
