Real Housewives Stars Joe and Teresa Giudice were sentenced to prison.
According to reports, a New Jersey judge sentenced the Real Housewives of New Jersey star Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice to 41 months in prison for bankruptcy, mail, and wire fraud. In addition, Giudice was also ordered to pay $414,588 in restitution, and it is likely to be deported back to Italy following the end of his sentence.
His wife, Teresa Giudice is still awaiting sentencing. The judge pointed out that if she receives jail time, she will serve her time first, so that one parent can remain at home with the couple’s four children.
The judge questioned how much property they owned and failed to report. Ultimately, making the judge upset.
The judge questioned why Teresa says she has no jewelry on the forms, but her attorney defended that statement, saying her costume jewelry is worth very little. The couple listed $25,000 in furnishings for their $3 million Montville home, an assertion that her attorney said was accurate. He explained that most of the furnishings seen on TV are brought in by the production company.
The judge then went on to list seven other items not listed on any court documents that were later discovered by government investigators. [Source]
They each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and three counts of bankruptcy fraud – by concealing assets, falsifying court filings and falsely testifying.
