Rebel Wilson is returning to the big screen in the reboot of the 1980’s comedy, “Private Benjamin”.
Rebel Wilson is pretty busy, between working on Pitch Perfect 2 and now “Private Benjamin” she is setting herself up to becoming one of the biggest female comedians in Hollywood.
According to TheWrap, Mark Gordon is producing a reboot of the Goldie Hawn’s comedy. In the movie Wilson will portray a redneck who decides to join the Marines and a rich girl who gets more than they expected when they join the Navy to escape their current life problems.
The original “Private Benjamin” grossed nearly $70 million at the domestic box office back in 1980, and its success spawned a short-lived TV series.
This New Line Cinema movie is currently seeking a director for the reboot.
Mark Gordon is producing the movie, which would seem to be a natural fit for Wilson’s comedic sensibility. New Line is currently seeking a director for the modern day update.
Rebel Wilson, is currently featured on the ABC sitcom “Super Fun Night,” “Pitch Perfect 2” and she is set up for a role in “Night at the Museum 3”.
