Pinewood Studios is one of the biggest movie studios in the world but, now the company is looking into creating new and original TV content.
According to a report by the Hollywood Reporter, Pinewood Studios is teaming up with StoryFirst PST, a US owned media company, and will focus on “creating, developing and financing quality TV drama for the international market.” Now the company is developing and arranging long-term external financing from a group of investors and banks to invest directly into its company.
And Pinewood Studios is hiring some major talent for their new generation of original content. Helen Gregory, the British producer of several TV shows including the upcoming ABC series The Catch, has been named as the company’s new creative director.
“The global demand for high-end television continues to rise dramatically and, with HETV fiscal incentives available, the Pinewood television business will participate in this growing market,” said Pinewood Group CEO Ivan Dunleavy. “Pinewood Television’s offering will build on the financing experience that Pinewood and StoryFirst has developed to date.”
Pinewood Studios provides a ton of jobs and opportunities to Atlanta, Georgia. If it were not for Pinewood Studios, Marvel’s Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 would probably never have filmed in Georgia.
Pinewood Group is a U.K. based production facilities company most known for the studios, is the home of the James Bond franchise where much of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
