Following Paul Walker’s death it was rumored that Universal would pull the plug on the billion dollar franchise. However, money speaks louder than words. ‘Furious 7’ has hit $1.15 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the number 7 on the highest-grossing films of all time. It’s likely to end up with more than $1.4 billion before any video sales, merchandise, or any other by products of the feature film.
While the rest of Georgia is worried about the future of film tax credits, movie producers are working on where they are going to film their next multi-million dollar production. And Fast 8, the sequel to Furious 7, is going to film in the ATL.
In case you are wondering, the last seven Fast & Furious movies were set in Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo, Panama, Brazil, London, and Los Angeles again, so apparently the next stop for the Fast & Furious franchise is New York City. It was rumored that New York City was going to become the next filming location for the Fast & Furious movie. In fact, during an appearance on The Tonight Show, series star Vin Diesel revealed that the next movie, which is going to be directed by the director of Straight Outta Compton F. Gary Gray, will take place in New York City.
