It is official – following the success of the Fate of the Furious, Universal is planning a spinoff for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
According to Deadline, Universal is quickly preparing a spinoff that will focus on the characters played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, who were most recently seen in the Fate of the Furious movie. According to the report, producers say they might broaden the universe with several spinoffs, and this is just one they are pursuing.
While the project is still in its early stages, the idea is for Dwayne Johnson’s diplomatic security agent Luke Hobbs to form an alliance with Jason Statham’s Decker Shaw.
Dwayne Johnson first entered the franchise in the fifth Fast and Furious movie. Meanwhile, Jason Statham established himself in the franchise in a Fast and Furious six. Each actor played an antagonist to the core street racing family but slowly earned their way into the household.
Other than that, there is no news as to when production will begin or the plot line behind the movie. But, it is very clear that Johnson and Statham showed excellent chemistry on screen together, which probably helped the film reach over $600 million worldwide.
