Warner Bros. confirms an upcoming standalone Batman movie starring and directed by Ben Affleck.
After reports and rumors of ending the solo Batman movie, DC has confirmed Ben Affleck will receive a bigger role in the next big screen DC universe movie. At the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the studio confirmed work on a standalone Batman movie, with Affleck possibly involved in a movie role behind-the-scenes of the project.

Later on, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed that Affleck is working on a solo Batman movie and also indirectly confirmed that Affleck is directing the project (he did not officially state that Ben Affleck is writing and directing the movie but, listed Ben Affleck as one of the “filmmakers” on the project).
Ben Affleck is already working on the upcoming Justice League movie reprising his role as Batman. Just last month, Ben , “there’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool idea” for Batman.
This news comes hours after Will Smith said he was interested in replacing Ben Affleck as Batman. On Sunday during the MTV Movie Awards, Will Smith spoke with MTV’s Josh Horowitz backstage about being Deadshot in the upcoming movie, Suicide Squad and if he’s ready to reprise his role, but according to Will Smith, he’s ready to become the next Batman instead. “I’m a team player. I’m a team player … If they need me in a suit, I’m in it … [Ben Affleck] can do it a couple, can do it for two or three, and then he gets injured and Deadshot can take over. For me it’s the logical progression.”
