After much anticipation and excitement, Hulu has regrettably abandoned the highly anticipated series adaptation of Martin Scorsese‘s ‘The Devil in the White City.’
Reports of Keanu Reeves’ exit from Hulu’s The Devil in the White City, a Martin Scorsese limited series, have declared that the project is no longer being pursued.
For the past ten years, this project has been in constant evolution, and now that it is complete, ABC Signature remains determined to find new potential buyers for their show. Although completed, they appear devoted to continuing their shopping journey. In 2010, Leonardo DiCaprio acquired this book’s movie rights; in early 2022, Reeves was announced as its lead actor. The studio has struggled to fill its former lead role since his departure. After being chosen to direct the film, Todd Fields stepped down shortly after that, following in Keanu Reeves’ footsteps. According to the Hollywood Reporter, negotiations were nearly complete for Jeremy Allen White, Jude Law, and Matt Ross to join the project. However, no agreement was ever reached in the end.
Erik Larson’s novel, Devil, chronicles the journey of Daniel H. Burnham, a groundbreaking architect determined to impact history by leading construction efforts for the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. It’s still being determined whether another streaming platform will acquire the project.
