Watch Jason Momoa’s amazing audition for Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones.
Jason Momoa is a seriously impressive actor and man. He does not mess around especially when it comes to auditions. So it is not really a surprise that his audition to play Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones was amazing. I mean have see you seen him in Season 1 of Game of Thrones? His very imposing personality and physique is enough to capture millions of people’s attention.

In the audition tape, which was uploaded to YouTube in 2012 has recently gone viral. The actor doesn’t speak Drogo’s native language, Dothraki but, instead breaks into an ancestral war cry or dance of the Maori people of New Zealand that was typically performed before battle. The dance is intense and a bit terrifying.

In August of 2014, Momoa was intereviewed by AOL and the actor said he was originally given a Drogo scene to read for his audition that consited of teh character saying “no” over and over. After a suggestion from an actor friend, Momoa decided to try out the “Haka” for this audition. The intense dance, which momoa described as “not a scene you do before a love scene, ” impressed casting directors, producers and creators had him come back and perform it for a second time, which the video below shows.

Momoa is expected to play Aquaman in the upcoming Batman v Superman movie. Perhaps he will incorporate the dance into his next movie.
