James Cameron Denies Rumors of OceanGate Titan Tragedy Movie Project.
Renowned Canadian film director, screenwriter, and producer James Cameron took to Twitter to quash speculations surrounding his involvement in a movie about the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy. Cameron’s firm response read, “I usually don’t dignify offensive rumors in the media, but I feel compelled to clarify this. There are no talks about an OceanGate film involving me, and there never will be.”
This clarification is necessary to end false reports propagated by The Sun, which inaccurately claimed Cameron’s interest in producing a movie based on the recent tragic incident that resulted in the loss of five lives just last month. The article even went so far as to suggest that esteemed actors Matt Damon and Kumail Nanjiani were being pursued critical roles while insinuating that the topic was deeply personal to Cameron.
In light of the OceanGate Titan’s implosion on June 18, ABC News sought James Cameron’s insights due to his extensive experience of 33 dives to the wreckage of the Titanic and his familiarity with submersibles.
